On Sunday afternoon we took on Castleisland B team in the second round of The Greyhound Bar Cup. We started the game brightly with our back 4 and midfield keeping the ball for long spells. Chances were limited though as Castleisland’s defence was well organised. However 5 minutes before half time we found the break through, a nice passing move found Kieran on the edge of the area and he drilled home to the far corner to give us a much deserved lead. We lead 1-0 at half time.
The second half started as the first ended with us on top again. Then a great move involving John, Dano and Chris finished with a great goal by Chris to give us a 2-0 lead. Castleisland to their credit fought back and with 8 minutes remaining they scored from a set piece, a good delivery and good header to make it 2-1. As Castleisland pushed for an equaliser in the last few minutes we broke with Kieran feeding Chris again and he rounded the keeper and finished the game to make it 3-1. It was a great win for our boys and played lovely football despite missing a few players
