Seniors: Castleisland 1 v 0 Samphires

We lost out on a share of the spoils last Friday evening away to Castleisland losing 1 nil in a tight game. Neither team forced too many chances but unfortunately Castleisland capitalised once and we couldn’t. We felt that we might have had a few shouts for a penalty but none came leaving us on the wrong end of the scoreline for the second consecutive match. Still we are playing well and we hope to get back to winning ways in the near future.

Footnote: We wish Samphire senior player Daniel Clinton all the very best of luck as he moves abroad in his new job.

Under 11 Boys:

Fenit were playing away to St Brendan’s Park last Sunday for another U11 non competitive league match on what was a very cold day which saw two periods of the match stop due to heavy snow showers. The match however continued and it really made for great spectacle as both sides went on the attack at every opportunity possible. It was a day where both defenders on either side needed to be on form and both goal keepers were asked questions. The first 10 minutes saw park getting on top of things and in the 12th minute took the lead which was deserved. It was this goal that woke Fenit up and for the last 7 minutes they owned the game. A late first half goal by Fenit was a well deserved reward for all the hard work and a result of pressure applied by the ring winger who slotted through Fenit to hit the top corner.
The 2nd half saw both sides get many changes and both sides could have taken the lead but the goal keepers kept their sides in it. The third period saw Park get on top again and went through the middle and took the lead after a lapse in concentration from Fenit. Both sides showed great fitness and fought to the bitter end which saw Fenit with two fantastic shots stopped by the Park keeper which left it Park 2-1 Samphires at the whistle. Fenit should be proud of themselves who deserved a draw but each week just are growing in confidence. Well done to everyone who played on the day.
