U14s Win Their League

Congratulations to the Boys U14 team who won their league last weekend when rivals Castleisland lost their last game to leave our boys ahead by a point with a game in hand. Great credit to all the lads who put in a great effort since last August and of course to their manager Barry Ryan who pushed and guided them all the way. Well done lads.

Congratulations too to Lily Nowak from Samphires U12 girls team who was part of the Kerry team who qualified for the Gaynor Cup semi finals in Limerick in June. Well done to the team and Lily!.

U16  1 – 0 Mastergeeha (Scorer Conor Gaynor)

Our 16s team beat Mastergeeha 1-0 in Fenit in our final game of the U16 division 2 season. Even though Mastergeeha had already won the league and Fenit had second place confirmed, Fenit went into this game wanting to end the season with a win. The game started well for us where we created a few opportunities to score early on. Mastergeeha were putting in long balls to good effect, but each opportunity was snuffed out by Gavin Burrows and Conor Gaynor. About 25 minutes into the game captain Conor Gaynor managed to beat the keeper with a powerful free kick to give Fenit the lead. In the second both sides had chances to score, with Conor Lenihan and Brian Cassidy coming close to getting Fenit another goal. For the last 15 minutes Mastergeeha piled on the pressure but Fenit stayed strong to hold them off with some fine saves by keeper Paddy O’Sullivan. It was a very deserved victory for Fenit and a fantastic way to end a great season. The club would like to thank all the players for putting in such incredible effort throughout the season. We would also like to thank the parents for giving all the countless lifts to and from trainings/games, the season couldn’t have happened without them. Finally our thanks to the manager Donnchadh MacGarry who put a lot of time and effort into the lads both on and off the field. The  group trained and played every week without fail since last August and has improved immensely under Donnchadh’s guidance and we hope they enjoyed it. We look forward to seeing all the players again next August for the next chapter.
