Samphires U16s Girls vs Killarney Athletic 05-01-19

Seniors: Killarney Celtic 2 v 0 Samphires

The seniors suffered a 2 nil defeat away to Killarney Celtic last Sunday morning. We conceded twice in the first half and though there was a marked improvement in the second half Killarney were comfortable throughout and were deserving winners. Hopefully we will come out of the blocks quicker for the remainder of the season.

U16 Girls: Samphires 2 v 1 Killarney Athletic(Scorers Katie Dwyer, Lilly Nowak)

A great game by our team who despite going 1 down on 15 mins, played some of our best football this season. Our goalkeeper on the day Muireann O’Brien made some good saves and we were solid in defence for most of the game. Katie Dwyer scored for 1:1 at the end of first half. We pushed for a goal in the second half and got our goal in 70min when Lilly Nowak passed a couple of defenders and finished in the top left corner when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Well done girls and thanks to Kerry Broadband for sponsoring new set of lovely jerseys for U16 team.

U16 Boys: Mastergeeha 2 v 0 Samphires

The Boys 16s lost 2 nil away to Mastergeeha last Saturday in a league match. We never got into the game which was a pity after the team had hit form in December but Christmas came at the wrong time for us it appears. Hopefully the lads will get back to their recent form the next time out.

U12 Girls: Killarney Celtic 3 v 2 Samphires (Scorers Elisa Deady, Miah Carmody)

The U12’s Girls played away to Killarney Celtic on Saturday. We started out very defensively but conceded an early goal. This only drove on the girls and they played their best soccer to date. The work rate was very high and all their hard work paid off with Ciara Quilter passing a lovely through ball to Elisa Deady who equalized in style. Moments later Miah Carmody hit a lovely low ball to best the keeper to have us leading 2-1 at half time. We kept working hard in the 2nd half and looked for that 3rd goal when Killarney caught our defence for two quick goals and won the game by 3-2. We so deserved a share of the spoils here but spirits were high as we played brilliantly. Girl of the match Ciara Collins and a special mention to the defence…. Lucey Jane, Cara, Ciara, Eva, Maeve and Grace who were outstanding. Midfield Rebeca, Meah, Heather, Erin, Grace and Caitlin were energetic while Ciara and  Elisa were menacing up front.

U12B Boys: Samphires 0 v 1 Dingle Bay Rovers

Hard luck to the boys U12 B team who lost by the narrowest of margins at home to Dingle Bay Rovers last Saturday. Despite the defeat the lads were excellent throughout. The goal was in the last 5 minutes though it looked more like we would be the ones to score first. Sean Power and Seanie Jeffers played well at back with Micheal O’Sullivan and Conor McGibney threatening up front. Well done boys – keep up the hard work
