U14 Boys: Samphires 1 v 1 Tralee Dynamos (Scorer ÓisÍn McGibney)

After a couple of disappointing performances recently, the team saved it’s best for last in this the final game of the season. We drew 1 all after a fantastic struggle with Tralee Dynamos who beat us well a month ago. We went 1 up through Oisin McGibney after 10 minutes having being put through by Ronan Kelly after an interception by man of the match Gary Riordan. It was to and fro for the rest of the match with Dynamos trying desperately to get the points that would keep their title hopes alive. We were under savage pressure for most of the first half but with Óran Murphy in goals behind Gary, Tomás Godley, Billy Walsh and Gearoid O’Connor, it was proving difficult for Dynamos. Eventually they scored a hotly disputed goal which only added to the tension. The second half was more of the same with us getting more possession as the half wore on. In midfield David Chute, Rory Boyd and Alex McGrath in the middle gave us a foothold, Ronan on the left and Donagh Murphy on the right were always a threat. ÓisÍn up top worked his socks off and dropped into midfield when he was needed. Will Bellchambers came off the bench for us in the second half despite carrying an injury and defended well on the left. Both teams served up a super match, but neither could force a winner and it ended up 1 each.

U12 Boys: Samphires 2 v 0 Camp Juniors (Scorer Cian McKenna(2))

What a superb game between 2 good determined teams. There was real quality on view and games between these 2 teams over the next few years will be worth going to. Good levels of technique and awareness were evident for boys so young. We were slightly on top overall but the best line on our team was the back 5 of the Nolans, Jack and Charlie, Jayden Deady, Jack McCarthy with Jack Dwyer behind them. They rebuffed all that came their way and started many attacks, switching the ball from side to side. In midfield Cian McKenna and Gregory Clifford on the wings, Keelan O’Dowd and Tom Quilter in the middle provided the muscle and energy with Aaron Harty and Conor McGibney probing and pressing all day. We played Camp 2 months ago and we were fortuitous to get a draw but it was our day the last day with a 2 goal victory both scored by Cian, the second with 5 minutes to go so the game was up for grabs right to the end. Well done to both teams for their efforts.

U11 Boys: Samphires hosted the Mastergeeha U10s and 11s last Saturday morning in Fenit. The weather was excellent only matched by the quality of the soccer from all the teams. Both clubs had 3 separate teams and it ended honours even after the 3 matches were played. Well done to all involved and thanks to all the parents who supported the boys.
