U17 Girls: Killarney Athletic 1 v 0 Samphires

We travelled to Killarney for our first game of the season. Normally games between these two teams are very close and this was no different. Both teams had good defences and few chances up front with Killarney capitalising on their chance. We began the game with some new girls who have never played soccer before and they did us proud. Katie O’Leary in defence, Lara Flynn midfield, Paula Holmes on the wing and Kirby Ann Ryan who came on in the second half. We look forward to seeing how this team gels over the coming weeks but from yesterday’s performance the signs are very promising.

U13 Girls:

Both u13 teams started there leagues this weekend. The ‘Greens’ played away in Killarney Celtic in Div 1 and the ‘Blacks’ away to MEK in Killorglin in the Premier.

The Green team really grew into the game as it progressed and while scoreline went against them there is great potential in this in group. Siofra Murphy scored a great individual effort and Eabha Mullen had a solid performance at the back.

For the ‘Blacks’ Anna Chute peformed great in goals. It was great to see over 30 girls travelling in this age group.

U11 Boys:

Samphires U11 Green played St Brendan’s Park in the Park on Sunday 29th. The game had some excellent great soccer played by both teams. It took a while for our team to unlock the Park defence, which was well organised. The game ebbed and flowed, but credit to all players for a fine performance.
