Community Games Boys 13s: Congratulations to all involved with the Boys U13s soccer team who won gold. We had 7 of the players in the squad but well done to all the team.
Senior Men: Samphires B 4 v 2 Tralee Bay Wanderers (Scorers: Sean Allen, Dara Heim, Eddie McCarthy)
Well done to the B teams who won out 4 – 2 last Sunday. A good first half paved the win on a very windy and rainy day. The second half petered out in the weather but the boys can be happy with the performance,
Boys U15s: Samphires 1 v 1 Listowel Celtic (Scorer Adam Duffy)
The 15s boys drew with Listowel last Saturday in a tough battle. The game ebbed to and fro throughout, and early on Ronan Finn in goals for us was the busier keeper, but neither team created many clear chances. Half way through the first half Adam Duffy popped up at the back post to finish a cross from Evan Neary. Listowel responded immediately with a well worked team goal to leave it 1 all, and it stayed that way to half time. In the second half, Listowel had the wind, and much of the territory in the early part but we held out with good defending from Alan O’Connor, Jack Corridon, Jamie Parker and Conor Nolan in front of the them. As the half progressed we launched quite a lot of attacks but Listowel kept us at bay. In the last minute we thought we had a good shout for a penalty with Conor O’Sullivan taken down in the box, but the referee waved it away to leave it 1 all in the end. Well done to both squads for giving such a good display.
U14 Girls: Samphires 5 v 6 LB Rovers a.e.t (Scorers: Erin Harty(4), Fiadh Nelan)
We started well and led 3-2 going into the half time break thanks to goals from Erin Harty (x2) and Fiadh Nelan. But LB responded strongly taking a 4-3 lead mid way through the second half. We then pushed for an equaliser which deservedly came from Erin Harty with about 5 mins to go. Extra time beckoned and Samphires began the period strongly with Erin adding another to make it 5-4 in Fenits favour. However once again LB came back and with 2 late goals swung the tie to win 6-5. Whilst it was disappointing to not get more from the match after a great performance, the girls give it their all and did themselves proud. Well done to LB for a great match.
Boys U13s: Castleisland 2 v 0 Samphires
Our 13A team had a very tough battle away in Castleisland but again we just lost out in a close game in the Premier Division, with Fionn McCarthy one of our stand out players. Our team is doing quite well and are competitive but slightly short in the scoring stakes but we’ll keep plugging away and improve as the season goes on. Well done boys.
Boys U13s: Samphires B 1 v 3 Tralee Dynamos B (Scorer: Josh Duffy)
The 13B team lost out to Dynamos B last Saturday. It was a competitive match throughout with goal of the game falling to Josh Duffy with a 30 yard scorcher. Dynamos edged it overall and deserved the win so we have no complaints.
U12 Girls: Samphires 4 v 2 Tralee Dynamos (Scorers: Siùn O’Donnell, Fiadh McElligott(2), Aoife Carey)
Our U12 girls lined out today in Fenit against Dynamos. Our team was captained by Aoife Carey (3) who dominated the game and held her team together with Sarah Jane Slattery and Sarah Kate holding the line at either side in defence. U11 goalie Faye Enright played a masterful game soaring to save 2 attempts by Dynamos. Addison Quirke and Sadhbh O’Donnell dominated on each wing feeding the ball to Siùn O’Donnell who scored a goal which was way beyond her years! A hard fought game. We had 5 x U11s girls play up today. The dynamic duo of Emma Barrett-Neziri and Fiadh McElligott resulted in another 2 goals from Fiadh. The O’Donnell sisters a superb combo! Well done to you all! Our u11s Lauren McCarthy and Saoirse Stack both came on as subs and made their presence felt immediately. Well done to all the girls.
Girl of the game: Siún O’Donnell.
