U14s vs Ballyhar May 2025

Boys U14s: Samphires 3 v 0 Ballyhar (Scorers: Conor Stack, Eamon Og Mc Elliggott, Cody Deady)

Our U14s played Ballyhar on the QF of the cup on a sunny Wednesday evening in Fenit. We drew our two league games with Ballyhar this season and this again was a tight game with nothing between the sides. Fenit Samphires were playing some nice football but finding chances hard to come by and Ballyhar were a constant danger upfront. In the end Fenit emerged as winners with goals from Conor Stack, Eamon Og Mc Elligot and Cody Deady but this contest was won because of a great defensive effort by not only the backs and our 2 keepers, Gerard and Darragh, but all over pitch. Well done all and thanks to Ballyhar for a great contest. Thanks also to Mike McCannon for reffing.

Boys U14s: Samphires B 2 v 3 Listowel Celtic B (Scorers: Ben Stack, Daniel Lawlor)

Our 14B team narrowly lost out to a last kick of the game winner against a game Listowel Celtic’s B team. Our team which is mostly U13s, struggled with Listowel’s physicality in the first half and consequently rushed everything in possession, giving Listowel plenty of the ball. It was 2 -1 to Listowel at half-time and deservedly so. Indeed we could have been more in arrears. The 2nd half saw a turnaround in attitude by our lads who stopped the panicking especially at the back and we started to build attacks from back to front. We go it back to 2 all with a smashing team move which gave us great confidence. Unfortunately we didn’t make it 3 and as mentioned earlier we were caught with a late winner by our opponents and we wish them well in the next round of the Shield. Well one to our boys too, on a quality second half.

Boys U12s: Samphires B 2 v 1 Tralee Dynamos A a.e.t. (Scorers: Luke McCann(2))

After a huge struggle, our U12s eked out a late victory in extra time against a good Dynamos team, in a match that could have gone either way. Both teams had periods of dominance but chance were few and far between. We went 1 up through Luke McCann in the first half after a clever move down the right wing. The second half was very competitive and we thought we had it but for Dynamos scoring with the last kick of the second half. Dynamos took great confidence from this and pressured us in the first period of extra time but we held out. We got back into it in the second half and got our reward late in the tie and Dynamos had no time to get back into it. Well done boys.

Boys U12s: Samphires C 0 v 2 Listowel C

Hard luck to our 12s C team who lost out narrowly to Listowel C last Saturday in sunny Fenit. Our team gave their all as usual and great credit to our players especially and their coaches too, for keeping the great effort going right throughout the season.
