Men Seniors: St Brendan’s Park A 2 v 1 Samphires A (Scorer: Bill Mullins)

A disappointing result for our senior A team against a young Park side on Sunday morning. In a scrappy and sometimes disjointed first half we couldn’t establish a foothold in the game and found ourselves a goal down after being caught out by a long ball over the top midway through the half. We created a few half chances before the break but never really threatened their keeper. The second half started much the same as the first as we struggled to get going, conceding a second goal early in the half. This seemed to spark us into life a bit as we started to play with more intensity and grew into the game. We grabbed a goal back with about 10 minutes to go when Bill Mullins finished well from a tight angle. For the rest of the half we pushed for an equaliser but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Men Seniors: Emerald Eagles 1 v 0 Samphires B

A narrow defeat for the B team in Tralee last saturday night. Again the team gave as good as they got, but it wasn’t our night. Well done to both teams for giving us such a good match.

Boys U16s: Samphires 3 v 2 Killarney Ath B (Scorer: Conor Finn (3))

A good result by our 16s last Saturday in a close game. Conor weighed in with a hat-trick but his teammates did a lot of the hard work to create the chances. Well done to all.

Boys U14s: Samphires 0 v 3 Bunratty Cratloe

We lost out to a good Clare team last weekend after a prolonged battle. Despite the scoreline, we gave a good account of ourselves and were in it till very late. It was even enough throughout, but just before halftime a cross from Bunratty’s left winger from near the endline ended up somehow flying in over Conor, who had a great game, into the far top corner. In the 2nd half it was nip and tuck till 7 minutes to go and as we pressed in search for a goal of our own, we conceded from a counter attack. They got a 3rd in the dying minutes as we got a bit ragged but overall it was a really good effort by all our lads.

Boys U12s: Samphires 6 v 1 Aisling Annacotty (3) (Scorers: Eoghan Gilligan(2) Matthew Rael(2) Tommy O Brien(2))
A great start for our boys in their first outing in the National Cup in sunny Fenit last Saturday. A blistering start saw us 3 up at half time thanks to 2 Eoghan Gilligan goals and a strike from Matthew Rael. A quick start from Annacotty in the second half saw them bring a goal back but Samphires settled magnificently again to add 3 more goals through another Matthew Rael strike and 2 goals from Tommy OBrien.  A superb performance from our lads built on a strong defence, strength in midfield and great width and danger up front.  Thanks to all the parents who brought the lovely food and poured the teas and coffees. On to the next round. Well done boys!
