Mens Seniors: Mastergeeha FC v Samphires A
Mens Seniors: Emerald Eagles v Samphires B
Mens Seniors: Samphires A 1 v 4 Killorglin (Scorer: )
Women Social Soccer: We played last Saturday night in a tournament in Tralee, where we played 3 matches against Castleisland, Killarney Athletic and Ballyhar Dynamos. It was not our night on the scoresheet and we lost the 3 matches narrowly. Despite this, we aren’t be too unhappy about how it went overall as we had as much of the ball as our opponents and had some fine passages of play. As usual, the girls gave their best and the team is improving all the time. Training continues Thursdays in Ardfert Recreational Centre 8-9.
Girls U16s: Samphires v Camp
Boys U15s: Park 1 v 1 Samphires a.e.t. (Samphires win 7-6 on Pens) (Scorer:Zach Kearney)
A fantastic result for the lads in a National Cup game they dominated and would have been disappointed had they not won. We conceded an early goal following some poor defending at the back post and were 1-0 down at half time. We were in control of midfield where Cian and Shea were causing serious problems for the Park defence. We held the advantage from set pieces and our best opportunities came from corners and frees into the box. With his first touch of the game from a freekick wide on the right Conor crossed to the front post and Zach deftly swept it in to put us level on 50 mins. We continued to press and despite our best efforts we weren’t able to get the winner. The 20 mins of extra time followed the same storyline and despite a few decent opportunities the game finished. Ronan saved the 3rd Park penalty but we missed our 4th penalty and it came down to the 8th penalty takers… the Park player went high over the crossbar and Patrick Egan stepped up and calmly put us into the 4th round of the National Cup. Great effort from all and we will now face Fairview Rangers from Limerick.
Boys U15s: Killarney Ath B 3 v 2 Samphires B (Scorers: )
Boys U15s: Camp 4 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: )
Girls U14s: Killarney Ath 7 v 1 Samphires
Hard luck to our girls who played away vs Killarney Ath last Saturday. Athletic are one of the top teams in the league and were worthy winners of the game. Again our team kept playing to the end and improved as the game went on, finishing quite strongly, so a good sign going forward.
Boys U14s: Inter Kenmare 7 v 2 Samphires (Scorers: Aron Keating, Conor McCarthy)
We lost out to a good Kenmare team last Wednesday evening in Kenmare’s new astro. We can have no complaints. We are not yet playing consistently at the pace required in the Premier Division. For periods in the game we played some bright football but we have to do a lot of work on switching on to defending when we lose the ball. Still, our lads played to the end and showed a good attitude throughout.
Boys U13s: Bridge Utd 2 v 0 Samphires
Our 13s lost out away in Clare last Saturday in the National Cup. It was close throughout but goals win games and our finishing wasn’t as good as their’s in a game of few chances. The scorer of the first goal was always going to be in the driving seat and unfortunately for us Bridge got it. We wish them well in the next round and for us, it is back to the league in 2 weeks time. See ye at training boys and keep the heads up!

Girls U12s: Samphires 1 v 0 Castleisland
Great match last Saturday… A hard fought 1 0 win over a strong Castleisland side who have had our measure over the past two seasons. Today we saw calm heads at the back and fantastic flowing football up front. It was hard to single out anyone individually in such a team performance, but special mention to Siún who was so cool under pressure in the second half, and to Annabelle who led the line with distinction and scored the winner following great passing in the build up. Well done girls.

Boys U11s: One final friendly fixture for the U11 boys before their development league begins next week. A tight game in tough conditions versus Tralee Dynamos provided all of the boys with a great test. Fantastic to see their progress and teamwork developing with each game. Thanks to Tommy and all of the Dynamos crew for hosting us.
