Men Seniors: Samphires 2 v 2 AC Athletic (Scorers: Billy Walsh, Donagh O’Brien)
Men Seniors: Samphires B 2 v 2 Abbeydorney (Scorers: Joe Carmody, Gearoid Savage)
Men Seniors: Samphires B 3 v 2 Ferry Rangers (Scorers: OG, Joe Carmody, MIchael O’Brien)
A good win by the B team last weekend over a good Ferry Rangers team. It was pretty even throughout but we squeezed out the victory with a late winner.
U16 Girls MEK 7 v 0 Samphires
Another tough day for the girls against the current table toppers. We were under the cosh from the start but defended well despite the scoreline. At times though we left gaps and MEK had the players to take advantage. All in all, it was an improved display compared to last week, but we must strive to not switch off throughout all the game. It isn’t enough to defend well for most of the game.
U16 Girls Park 9 v 0 Samphires
We lost out to a much better Park team in the league last Saturday. We defended excellently for most of the first half and 5 minutes to half time, it was only 1 nil. With our opponents having the lion’s share of the ball we had to work very hard to stay in the game and in the 5 minute spell before halftime it eventually told and we conceded 3. The second half started as poorly as the first half ended, we conceded another 2 and it was backs to the wall for the rest of the game but our girls kept going to the end. We will take some comfort from the defending as a team for the first 35 minutes and we saw how a good team keeps the ball. It was a tough day for us, our weaknesses we’ll have to work on, but we’ll go again. Thanks to MEK too for taking off a player when we went down to 10 players in the 2nd half…very sporting and we appreciate it.
U15 Boys Fairview Rangers 6 v 0 Samphires
Our 15s went to Limerick last weekend in the National Cup and we came up against a very good team. The result was harsh on us but good teams score when they gat a chance. We suffered a few injuries in thse course of the game which didn’t help and we hope to see our injured boys back soon. Hard luck on the day to all.
U15 Boys Samphires B 2 v 2 Killorglin B
U14 Girls Samphires 0 v 3 Killorglin
Hard luck to our girls last Saturday. We played well and competed well despite having to play a lot of U13s. It was a close enough game with Killorglin being slightly better on the day. Well done to all.
U14 Boys Killorglin 3 v 0 Samphires A
U13 Girls Samphires 2 v 4 Camp
It was close throughout 1 nil, 1 all, 2 -1, 2 all, 3 -2 and it came down to last period of the game but Camp got the all important goal to win the game. Hard luck to our girls ona great effort.
U13 Boys Listowel Celtic A 1 v 0 Samphires A
The 13s Boys lost out narrowly away in Listowel last weekend. We played quite well and the scoreline was harsh on us as we were in the game all through but Listowel scored the vital goal to give them the win. A hard lesson but hopefully we will learn from it.
U13 Boys Castleisland 1 v 1 Samphires A (Scorer: Fionn McCarthy)
The lads got a draw away to Castleisland last weekend in a tough game. We competed well and created a few chances but we’re disappointed we didn’t convert a few of these, but our opponents didn’t make it easy for us. On the other side of it we defended well. Well done lads.
U13 Boys Samphires B 2 v 5 Listowel Celtic B
U12 Girls Samphires v Killorglin
Our U12 Girls won last Saturday with a great squad performance. A composed goalkeeping display by Sarah setting the tone, including a magnificent fingertip save onto the crossbar early on that might have otherwise changed how the game unfolded.
Captain Siún set out our stall at the back and Eilín drove us forward up the hill and into the wind, including the calmest of finishes to send us on our way. In the second half the attack really clicked with Evie, Emma, Lillie and Annabelle amongst the goals. We could name every player in this report, great attitude, good concentration and played in great spirits. Thanks to a very committed Killorglin team, didn’t go their way today but we will look forward to facing them again as the season progresses.
U12 Boys Killarney Athletic 1 v 0 Samphires
A wet day at Woodlawn saw our boys up against a tough Killarney Athletic side but they give a really strong account of themselves. It was 0-0 at halftime with both sides struggling to break the deadlock. A lively second half eventually saw Killarney Athletic take the lead from the penalty spot and hold out for a narrow victory. Our boys were immense today with everyone displaying intensity of effort with teamwork and encouragement to the forefront. Very proud of them today. Well done boys,A really close match which was in the melting pot till the end but we coceded late with 10 mins to a penalty…. we were feel we were as good as our opponents in the game which was encouraging but result a bit disappointing as it always is when you lose to a late one… hard luck lads.
U12 Boys Killarney Celtic A 5 v 2 Samphires A (Scorers Luke McCann, Tommy O Brien)
A tough night at Killarney Celtic where 3 early goals conceded gave us a mountain to climb against a strong Killarney Celtic side. A good response saw Luke McCann score with his head and Tommy OBrien added a second for us but Killarney Celtic found the net twice more to make it 5-2 at full time. We were very unlucky in attack with Eoghan Gilligan hitting the post with a superb effort and on another night the scoreline may have been different. Very proud of the way our boys fought until final whistle. Thanks to Killarney Celtic for a sporting game.

U12 Boys Mastergeeha A 1 v 1 Samphires A (Scorer OG)
A tough game in heavy conditions in Mastergeeha today saw our boys take the lead in the first half when a strong run by Cian O’Sullivan ended in a Mastergeeha OG. A very even game saw us under more pressure in the second half with Charlie O Sullivan making some great saves to keep us in it. Eventually the pressure told and Mastergeeha equalised with 10 mins to go. Our lads stood firm for the rest of the game to get a well earned draw which was probably a fair result on the day. Well done boys.
Also a huge thanks to Colin Teahon from PST Sport and Pat Costello from Costello Executive for sponsorship of our new jerseys which looked great today in our match against Mastergeeha.. Thanks for your continued support.
