Killarney Celtic B-0
The Seniors played their second game in the league on Sunday morning at Samphire Park against Killarney Celtic B. It was a beautiful sunny day with the pitch in immaculate condition to suit a free flowing football game. Following the impressive 8-0 win over Ballyhar, there was a great buzz between the players. Fenit wanted to impress again and went out all guns blazing with the team playing fast attacking football. The first 45 minutes were a treat to watch with Fenit creating numerous chances and going in with a 3-0 lead. Daniel Clinton opened the scoring with a volley from just outside the box. Ger McCarthy and David O’Sullivan added to this with two cool finishes with the help from some intelligent wing play from Bill Mullins and Sean Foley. Although comfortable, the first half wasn’t all one way traffic. Fenit’s fantastic back four of Klaudio Dema, Darren Lynch, Ruairi Kelly, and John Moran were excellent and holding midfielder Peter McCarthy protected them brilliantly. Goalkeeper Eoghan O’Brien had a quiet afternoon however when called into action he duly delivered with an excellent save from a long range effort at 1-0 while his very accurate distribution made it easy to play out from the back.
The second half was similar to the first and Fenit came out attacking. Sean Foley finally got on the score sheet with a powerful finish after missing two sitters in the first half. Substitute Ray Walsh scored the 5th with a great strike from outside the box and Ger McCarthy finished off the scoring with a tap in from a cross. Cormac O’Connor also came on in the second half and looked very comfortable slotting in at left back. Thanks to Killarney Celtic for a good game and wish them all the best for the rest of the season. Fenit hope to continue their winning streak next week away to Asdee.
