Women vs LB Rovers April 2025

Women Social Soccer: Samphires v LB Rovers

Our Thursday night social soccer ladies played a challenge against LB Rovers this evening in Ardfert. It was a great display of skill, determination and teamwork. Alot of the group have been together now nearly two years and all the hard work at training was clear to see in the performance. Thanks to LB for a really sporting game. It was great for us to play against such a well organised and established team. Thanks to everyone who organised the tea and treats after! We will continue to train on Thursdays but our venue will switch to Fenit from next Thursday. New players always welcome…no experience needed!!

Men Senior: Samphires B 2 v 0 Mastergeeha B (Scorers:Richard Burke, David O’Brien)

Our senior B team continued their recent good run of results with a hard earned win over Mastergeeha in blustery conditions in Samphire Park. Despite a delayed start we settled into the game quickly and played some tidy football throughout the first half. Our forward players were looking dangerous any time we got the ball into the attacking half, creating a few half chances early in the half but we couldn’t convert. We took the lead late in the half when Richard headed home from Dylan’s whipped corner. Mastergeeha caused a few problems for us on the break and David Chute made a great save late in the half to keep our lead intact at the half time break. The second half was a bit more frantic as the visitors looked to grab an equaliser. Our back 4 dealt well with whatever was thrown at them and David made a couple of saves to keep us ahead. We sealed the win late in the game when David O’Brien finished well shortly after coming into the game. Another good result as we continue the push for promotion.

Boys U15s: Castleisland 4 v 1 Samphires (Scorer: Conor Finn)

We made our exit from the cup last weekend after a good battle with Castleisland. We had less possession throughout against a bigger team and this told eventually in the second half. It was 1 all at half time with both teams scoring from corners. Midway through the second half we conceded the ball needlessly at the edge of the box and the subsequent shot ended up in the net. We forced a corner form our next possession but were caught on the counter from this corner and this 3rd goal sealed the result. They added a 4th towards the end to give them a comfortable win. A big thank you to the 14s who came along to help us make up a team and they all did very well.

U13s vs Ballyhar April 2025

Boys U13s: Samphires 5 v 0 Ballyhar (Scorers: Conor James (2), Daniel Lawlor (2), Aran Keating)

A decent performance from the u13 Green team in challenging conditions in Fenit. A strong wind into the beach goals made it difficult to play but goals from Conor James (2), Daniel Lawlor (2) and Aran Keating puts us into the next round of the cup. Some very good link up play for the goals and stern defending made for a good watch.

Girls U12s vs Camp Apr 2025

Girls U12s: Samphires 2 v 1 Camp (Scorers: OG, Fiadh McElligott)

A great win by the Under 12 girls today in Fenit. We got off to a great start with an OG and that was quickly followed by a great goal from Fiadh McElligott. Camp grew into the game after that and we showed great heart, team spirit and determination to take away a 2-1 victory in the end. We march on to the Division 1 semi final in a few weeks time. ⚽️

Boys U9s/U8s: We held our end of season blitz for our 2016 and 2017 boys last Sunday welcoming the boys from LB Rovers and Listowel Celtic to the ARC. On a fabulous day for football a great display of ability, determination and most importantly teamwork was on show from the 6 Fenit Samphire squads that played. Their progression over the season was clear to all and the competitive nature of the squads even when playing each other was great to witness. All 6 teams did great with the Black Team winning their final against Listowel and the red Squad having an eppic battle in the final where the teams couldnt be separated after full time and golden goal, it was apparent that the parents were as exhausted as the players so in a very sporting finish the teams agreed on a draw. Thanks to Eoin in LB and James in Listowel for making the trip, the mentors who looked after each of the squads on the day, our referees Dave, Diarmuid, Grace and Shea, goal movers John and Paudie and gate keepers Sarah, Dana and Emma.
