Mens Seniors: Samphires A 7 v 1 AC Athletic
Mens Seniors: Samphires B 0 v 4 Elton Wanderers
A poor performance against a decent side saw us losing 4 nil at home last Sunday. The scoreline reflected the game and we can have no complaints. We were outworked and outrun throughout the game and we were unable to find teammates with our passes, we played without width and everything was down the middle. A poor show and we need to take stock about where we are going before the season falls apart.
Girls U16s: Samphires 1 v 3 Bridge United (Clare) (Scorer: Erin Harty (pen))
Hard luck to our 16s who despite playing well in their first game of the season, lost out to a good Bridge United team. The difference was that our opponents were clinical in front of goal and we weren’t. We were slightly on top in the first half but found ourselves 2 nil down from 2 counter attacks. We were under the cosh for much of the second half and Bridge deservedly went 3 up with 20 left on the clock. We got back into it then, but missed a penalty unfortunately, but scored one with 5 minutes to go through Erin, but couldn’t force a second goal.
Boy’s U16s: Killarney Celtic B 0 v 5 Samphires B (Scorers: Josh Ennis, Conor Walsh, Adam Goggin (2), Adam Fitzgerald)
A good win away from home last Saturday by the 16s, we were on top for much of the game and were good in front of goals. Defensively we were pretty sound with our midfield working hard in front of the back 4 so well done boys.
Boys U14s: Samphires B 7 v 1 Listowel Celtic B
Boys U12s: Premier Samphires 1 v 6 Killorglin
A disjointed performance from us against a Killorglin team that was quite good on the counter attack and solid in defence. Too many of our players spent too much time trying to dribble the ball to no effect when the pass was on and our defending wasn’t the best at times with players not getting back into position after we had lost the ball. Still, on the good side, we kept going and got a consolation towards the end.
