Fenit narrowly lose out to Kingdom Boys in the cup

On Saturday 21st of January our U13’s played host to Kingdom Boys in the cup. The conditions were cold and windy but both teams did their best to play the ball on the ground and under the wind. We played against the wind in the first half which was always going to be difficult against a good Kingdom Boys team. The game itself started off to a flyer with both teams creating goal scoring opportunities. The conditions were always going to be a factor and the guests did have the most of the possession and played most of the soccer in our half. In saying that our boys worked extremely hard and did their best to hassle the Kingdom Boys players and not give them anything easy. We defended fantastically well with out backline very solid. Our midfield also worked hard not giving Kingdom Boys space or time to create chances and with our hard working lone striker, Liam, we did very well to go in at half-time 0-0.

In the second half we had the wind and this did help us create more chances however in credit to out opponents they, as we did in the first half worked hard and did not give us alot of space and closed us down well. This led to Kingdom boys first goal where a lost ball in the midfield was quickly moved forward into our box and despite our best efforts a low shot from the Kingdom Boys striker caused some confusion with our goalkeeper and defender and crossed the line to make them 1 up. Our boys did not drop their heads and continued to work hard and created many chances with Liam, Chris, Owen and Sean most dangerous. As the second half went on it was evident that our confidence was building all the time as we started to push players forward and try get the equaliser however, with only a matter of minutes left in the game Kingdom Boys counter attacked and went on to secure the win with another goal.

The game finished 0-2 but credit must be given to our 12 players. If we continue to give performances like that results will soon start to go our way. Thanks to Kingdom Boys and the referee for the game.
