Under 15s Win Away In Killorglin

Our U15s won last week out in Killorglin on a scoreline of 6 nil. The game was played on the all-weather pitch in the local secondary school and it took our lads a bit of time to get used to the surface. Looking at the score you might think it was a stroll but it wasn’t over as a contest until 15 minutes to go when we scored our third. We took the kick off to start the game, attacked and within a minute got a penalty for handball which Bobby O’Regan converted. Amazingly we didn’t score again in the first half though we mainly controlled proceedings through our 2 central midfielders Thomas Lenihan and Jack McCarthy. Oisín O’Brien did have the ball in their net but it was disallowed for offside. We looked good at the back after we adjusted to their direct style of play but had a couple of scares in the early part of the game with which our custodian Brian O’Regan dealt most capably. A back 4 of Sean Donnellan, Antóin Stanton, Cormac O’Brien and Padraig O’Mahony were well on their game, conceded little ground throughout and covered for each other when the first man was beaten. In the second half we took the game by the scruff of the neck for 20 minutes which was the winning of the game when Sean Higgins and Bobby scored in quick succession around the 20th minute. The Killorglin heads dropped for the next period and we tacked on another 3 goals through Dara O’Connor from a crossed ball,Bobby again and Christopher Murphy with a beautiful chip. We had  Ciarán Carmody and Eoghan Greaney on for the last 25 minutes and both were very effective and gave us impetus when we needed it. We were put under tremendous pressure for the last 10  minutes but especially through the aforementioned Brian O’Regan, Ciarán Carmody, Jack McCarthy and Eoghan Greaney we held out to keep the score at nil. Well done again to all and make sure to get to training on Wed nights in Fenit.
