Under 13s Improve Again

Our Under 13s played host to Camp on a beautiful day in Fenit last Saturday morning.Any match between Samphires vs Camp is thoroughly entertaining and this one was no different. Our team with its beautiful passing patterns and Camp with their more direct approach combined with a natural ability to create chances saw 2 teams that  entertained those fortunate enough to be there. Even tough we conceded 5 no blame can be apportioned to our keeper David Ryle who is turning out to be a top keeper. Our carelessness in possession was punished most severely at times but we will live with that while our team is learning. Some of our players have only just starting playing and performed very well and on another day we  might have gotten a point from the game. Jamsie Lynch and Thomas Gaynor at right and left of the defence were excellent throughout and started many attacks for us. Jack Falvey and Colm Healy were 2 rocks for us and had a great contest against 2 very lively strikers. In front of them Dara Heim and Conor Gaynor in the middle and Cian Donnellan and Liam Tuite on the wings were up for the game and fought for every ball. Up front Edward Stack and Keaven McElligott caused all sorts of problems for the opposition and maybe could even could have scored more. We were against the breeze in the first half and it was 2 nil to Camp at the half.A Colm Healy free 3 minutes into the second half was parried by the keeper and Keaven reacted first to score. We then dominated and equalised when we got a penalty after Dara was fouled which Keaven confidently dispatched. Camp came back into it then, forced a third goal after we conceded possession at the edge of our box.We introduced  Sean Vieux,Michael Kirby,Conor Lenihan,DJ McCarthy and Oisin McGrath in the second and all did their bit for the cause. As it is in many sports at this age in the last quarter the game can lose shape and it became end to end with both teams throwing caution to the wind. Camp scored, then Keaven got his third and hard as we pressed Camp scored a 5th in the closing minutes of a pulsating encounter.Well done to all our boys on the day and also to all those who supported us on the day.
