Tralee Dynamos- 3

At a very windy Samphire Park our Seniors hosted Tralee Dynamos on Sunday morning. The last meeting between the two sides produced a very entertaining, tight game with Dynamos edging it with a last minute winner but Sunday’s game played out very differently. Dynamos started the game brightly keeping possession well and creating a couple of chances. We were playing against a stiff breeze in the first half and struggled at times to keep possession, but we did threaten on the break through Daniel Clinton, Bill Mullins, James Sweeney and Ger McCarthy. Eventually Dynamos made their possession count and went into half time with a two goal lead- the second goal was an outstanding long range effort.

We knew that we would need a big performance in the second half and we played with a better intensity after the restart. Our back four of Kieran O’ Mahony, John Maher, Darren Lynch and Ruairi Kelly were more aggressive in the tackle as Dynamos were struggling to break us down playing against the strong breeze, while Eoghan O’Brien’s distribution was pushing us further up the pitch. Our central midfielders, Peter McCarthy and Kevin Walsh, were getting on the ball more and more and allowed us to create some half chances during the half. Having a two goal lead, Dynamos were keeping the ball well and they got a third goal late on in the second half which looked to close out the game. Fenit kept trying throughout and pulled a goal back when Jack Savage scored as he floated a great free kick into the box which found the far corner.

It was a disappointing performance from Fenit, considering the promise we had shown in our previous fixture. Well done to Dynamos and thanks to referee Stuart Templeman.
