Seniors Continue Win Streak with 5-1 win

On Sunday morning our senior team travelled to Asdee in a top of the table clash. Both teams went into the game unbeaten so it was never going to be an easy encounter for our young side. Having missing a few regular starters debuts were given to Tadgh Fleming and Niall Sheehy who both contributed well to a great win. We started brightly with the majority of players winning their individual battles which gave us a strong platform to start playing in the style we wanted. Back four of Tadgh, Darren, David and John were fantastic not only defensively but distribution from our back four made it very easy for the forward players to cause problems. Center of the park Peter McCarthy and Sean foley began to run the game and dominate possession with wingers Bill Mullins and Niall Sheehy causing full backs huge problems. Up frontĀ the impressive Ger McCarthy was supported very well by Daniel Clinton who was a constant threat. After creating numerous chances we finally got the opener through Ger McCarthy and from here never looked back. We knew going into the half with a one goal lead is never safe and were determined to make our lead more convincing. Second half we started bright and scored within ten minutes through another Ger McCarthy goal. From here Asdee began to commit players forward knowing they needed a goal which left our forward players with much more room to work with. We finished the game off quite quickly through Ger completing his Hat Trick aswell as goals added by Niall Sheehy and an exemplary team goal finished off by the impressive David O’Sullivan. One disappointment for the day was to Concede the teams first goal of the league season in the 85th minute through a genourously givenĀ free kick finished very well by Asdee player Jamie Culloty. Another impressive performance by this young Fenit side who now have 3 wins from 3 scoring 19 goals while conceding only 1. Thanks to Asdee for a tough encounter on their very well kept facilities.
