Our 17s hosted Listowel in the semi-final of the league last Sat. The game ended up as a 2 all draw in a game we feel we might have won but could have lost. We took the lead through Cormac O’Brien after a goalkeeping error in the first minute. We dominated for 20 minutes but failed to add to our score despite a number of gilt-edged chances. Then Listowel came into the game and we were under the cosh and the pressure eventually told when we conceded a soft one ourselves from a free in the 44th minute. Listowel continued to dominate at the start of the second half and they capitalised with a goal from a header at the back post to take the lead after 55 minutes. We pushed on looking for an equaliser for the rest of the match but good defence and good goalkeeping kept us out and when it was looking like we might not get the equaliser Cormac popped up again to rescue us with his second. So on we go to a replay in Listowel. Well done to all the lads who kept going right to the end. Thanks too to the lads who look after our grounds – it was in sparkling condition.
