Girls U14s: Samphires 2 v 0 Camp Juniors

U14 Girl’s versus Camp Juniors 6th Oct

A great win to start our season. Excellent performances from all 12 players, especially our defence led by captain Laura Reilly, who helped to keep the Camp team from scoring. Goals from Lilly Nowak in first half after winning a sprint with the Camp defenders and Lana Gaudino in second half, after the Camp keeper saved from Lilly’s shot on goal. Samphires had a  few more chances and had the ball in the net by Nell Ryan Moriarty but referee judged it offside. Standout efforts from Katie Fitzmaurice, Clara O’Dowd, Ciara Collins and Laura Reilly in defence and Lilly Nowak up front. Well done to all the girls on a great win.

Boys U13 Park ‘B’ 4 v 3 Samphires  (Scorer Aaron Harty(3))

We lost narrowly away to Park ‘B’ last Saturday in Tralee in a well contested game where both teams played lots of good football. We were 2-1 up at half time after a high intensity 30 minutes with a brace from Aaron Harty. We were playing good football in the second half but a shot by the Park from 30 yards with the wind ended up in the roof of our net. This gave the Park impetus and 2 avoidable errors by us left us 4-2 down with 15 left. Our lads, mostly U12s, were up against a bigger team and were stretched at times but did enough to stay in the game. We kept playing our game and were rewarded when Aaron completed his hat trick after a through ball from Cian McKenna. We did everything except score in the remaining 10 minutes with Tom Quilter marauding down the wing and Jayden Deady and Tiernan O’Sullivan probing from midfield. At the back Tomás Godley, Jack McCarthy and Dominic Regan had very good games and all our players can be happy with their efforts. It finished with the Park edging it 4-3.

Boys U12’B’ Samphires 0 v 6 LB Rovers:

Our 12B’s lost out to a very strong LB Rovers team last weekend at home in Fenit. Our lads, who tried their tried their best to the end were up against a better team but gave a good account of themselves. Well done boys, we’ll have better days.
