U16 Boys:Samphires 1 v 4 Rattoo Rovers (Scorer Eddie McCarthy)
The boys 16s lost to Rattoo last weekend on a score of 4-1. We didn’t do ourselves any favours conceding 2 early goals, one from a penalty and the other a defensive mix up. We got back into the game and committed to attack at every opportunity, hitting the woodwork 3 times, but were caught on the counter just before half time to give us a mountain to climb. We did quite well in the 2nd half with the midfield keeping a good shape and using the wings well with Eddie McCarthy scoring for us near the end, but too little too late. Rattoo scored again at the death to put a gloss on the scoreline.
U14  Boys:Killarney Athletic 5 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Barry Hamilton)
Our team suffered their 1st defeat of the season against a better Killarney Athletic team last Saturday. We never got into our groove and failed to get deal with the pressure Athletic subjected us to. Our first touch and positional sense was shown up at times but hopefully we will improve on these over the next number of training sessions. Best for us were Will Bellchambers and Ronan Kelly.
U12  Boys:Inter Kenmare 0 v 5 Samphires (Scorers Aaron Harty(2), Tom Quilter (2), Jayden Deady)
The U12s played away to Kenmare last Saturday where we played the strongest opposition to date in sunny conditions but with a very bitter wind. Fenit played good football to start with but it was evident that it was going to take something special to beat the Kenmare keeper. After about 15 minutes of pressure and superb one two between Cian McKenna and Tom Quilter finally opened the defence with Tom suppling a lovely cross to  Aaron Harty to get the 1st goal. 5 minutes later it was a another cross supplied by Jayden Deady that found Tom at the back post for number 2t. Jayden was doing well in midfield wth Charlie Nolan, Gregory Clifford and Kealan O’Dowd using the width if the pitch to great effect. Our defence of Cian, Dominic Regan, Jack McCarthy and Jack Nolan and Jack Dwyer in goals was solid throughout. 2nd Half: We added 3 more goals from Aaron, Tom and Jayden giving us a 4th win of the year. Best for us was Jack Nolan. Thanks too to Kenmare who were very sporting both on and off the pitch. Our 2nd U12 team didn’t have such a good day at home to Camp Juniors who beat us convincingly. Well done to them but well done too to our boys who tried to the end.
U16 & U12 Girls:Listowel Celtic v Samphires
Both our u12 and u16 travelled to Listowel for league games on Bank Holiday Monday.
The 16s were well in the game for the first half matching at very strong Listowel team. We lost our shape in 2nd half and Listowel pulled away but again heads never dropped and some great performances from Eimear O Sullivan, Katie Hussey and Katie Dwyer.
A young 12s team played their best against an older Listowel team and again showed great spirit despite being up against it.
Condolences – Fenit Samphires would like to extend our condolences to the family of Conor Ringland who died in the past week. Conor who was from Ardfert played for us in his teenage years and will be missed. Ar dheis Dé lena anam.
