U13 Boys: LB Tovers 4 v 3 Samphires (Scorers Cian McKenna(2), Tom Quilter)

Our 13s played away in Ballybunion vs LB Rovers in a league fixture last Saturday. We started poorly and LB had 2 or 3 players who caused us all sorts of problems and got a number of shots off from edge of our box. Our midfielders were not on their game defensively and our passing was soft with our players too close together resulting in a deserved 2 nil lead for our opponents after 15 minutes. We moved Cian McKenna up front and Billy Doyle back to the middle which made a difference. Our counter attacks improved and when we got at them we looked like we could score. Jack Dwyer in goals, Jack Nolan, Daithi Murphy, Dominic Regan, Tomás Godley and Jack McCarthy started to get on the ball and play out from the back which allowed us possession in midfield and from this we created a number of attacks reulting in Cian getting 2 goals to level set up by Keelin O’Dowd and Charlie Nolan. 2nd half started with us on top and Jayden Deady in a defensive midfield position and Gregory Clifford up front putting us on the front foot. We fired in a number of shots and Tom Quilter scored off a rebound. The game was even after this but they scored off a great switch of play. LB then scored off a free at back post to give them a lead. We started to get Tom on the ball in the last few minutes and he got through to score but it was disallowed for a marginal offside. Well done to both teams for such an exciting game.
