Senior Men: Killarney Celtic B 2 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Chris Murphy)

Our men’s’ senior team lost out 2-1 away to Killarney Celtic B last Sunday. We didn’t perform as we can and we can’t say we deserved to win. We were 2 down at half time and down a man who got a red card. We rallied in the second half and Chris got 1 back for us but we couldn’t force a second.

Samphires U14s V Camp Juniors Jan 22

Boys U14’s Division1 Fenit Samphires 6 v 4 Camp Juniors (Scorers Mikey Corridan(3), Dara Harty, Luke O’Carroll(2))
A great win for Fenit U14’s in an exhilarating match that was end to end. We started off brightly playing some good football and moving the ball out wide but despite this found ourselves two with Camp’s first two attacks. The first due to a lack of pressure and tackling lead to a scuffed shot into the corner and the second with a fine finish from their centre forward after he was put through. However we battled back and Mikey Corridan got a close in finish and Dara Harty scored with the aid of a deflection as we started to dominate before half-time. 2-2 at half-time.
Second half was more hectic and we lost control a little in midfield as Camp pushed on to try and get back in the match. Luke O’Carroll scored two, one a shot from distance and the 2nd a penalty but each time Camp replied with two outstanding long range efforts from their centre midfielder. However we were still a threat up front and Mikey Corridan scored two fantastic goals from the right side of the box as we pulled away and despite some late pressure we held on for the win. A great game for the spectators but we have some work to do on our defensive shape and pressing. MOTM for Fenit Diarmuid Murphy

Girls U12s: Samphires 2 v 9 Iveragh (Scorers Louise Gaynor, Aoife Galvin)

Our U12 Girls had a tough day at the office last Saturday when we faced Iveragh in Fenit. From the off we did our best and competed throughout but Iveragh had quality up front and repeatedly caused us problems in our half. Looking at the scoreline you might think we didn’t have any all ball at all, however, overall we had decent possession but couldn’t put it all together with Iveragh’s defence doing enough to keep us at bay. At the other end Iveragh had a number of super girls whose skills were fantastic to watch. So well done to both teams and especially to our own girls who didn’t give up despite the scoreline. Best for us was Abi Kearney.

Boys U11s: Our u11s played a very entertaining and enjoyable game against Park on Sunday afternoon in perfect conditions in Fenit. Great performances all round..thanks to Park for very sporting game.

Boys U10/U9s: Our u10s and u9s had a great run out in near perfect conditions early Sunday against LB Rovers. We had three teams playing with all players getting plenty of game time. Thanks to LB Rovers for travelling and for the sporting games.
