Thank you to all those who took the time to support our Vertical Mile fundraiser last Monday. It was great to see the athletes, young and not so young, powering their way up the hill. Thanks too, to The Beach Shop in Fenit, who helped us out on the day with some refreshments at the finish line.
Congrats to Sadhbh Dowling for making the u14 Gaynor Cup Squad representing Kerry and flying the flag for Fenit Samphires. Well done Sadhbh
U14 Boys Shield Semi-Final Samphires 3 v 4 MEK (Scorers: Gary Parker, Conor Finn, Cody Deady)
A disappointing result at ARC Ardfert meant we failed to proceed to the Shield Final. MEK proved a strong opponent who played some lovely football, but we were too slow to get going and we gave ourselves a mountain to climb with some poor passing. From a defensive mistake we concede to go 1-0 down. Shortly afterwards another mistake from poor passing meant we went 2-0 down. Fortunately, we scored shortly afterwards from a Gary Parker cross to give us some hope.
2nd half we were better and started to play a bit as MEK pressing dropped a little. However, MEK went 3-1 up through a well worked goal. We fought back however and scored when Conor Finn went through on goal and slotted home. Game on and we pressed for an equaliser but conceded another poor goal on the break from MEK. We kept going and gave ourselves some hope with a Cody Deady finish from a Cormac Lawlor cross. However, we had left it too late and MEK were able to hold out for the win. Best of luck to MEK in the shield Final.
