Under 14s Made To Work For Their Win

Our under 14s played Castlemaine last Saturday in a cold day in Fenit and on a pitch that just had a game 20 minutes before this one kicked off. The pitch was understandably a bit rough but no matter, our lads got on with it and pushed the ball around well. We feel we had the better of it in both halves against a team that never made it easy for us and showed plenty of spirit. Christopher scored in both halves, the second from a penalty after he himself had been upended, to give us the victory.Brian in goals had a very good game and kept a clean sheet which all keepers cherish. At the back Ciaran Carmody on the right and Podge O’Mahony on the left were solid and started many attacks. In the centre Adrian Nolan and the mercurial Cormac O’Brien were top class. Sean Donnellan and Fiachra Ennis in centre mid covered miles for the cause and were the springboard for the victory. Ossie Clifford and David Lenihan on the wings worked up and down tirelessly for the team and only got stronger as the game progressed. Up front Christopher Murphy, Ciaran Murray and later Stephen Dolan were a constant threat and created many chances. When our team got the ball down and passed they were very good but the old habit of dribbling the ball into dead ends is dying hard! Well done to all the lads on their efforts and keep up the good work. Thanks as well to the parents and family members who came to support.
