U18s Win League Opener

DSCF0530Our U18 team played their first game of the season versus Listowel Celtic last weekend on a beautiful sunny day. We were on top for most of the match and finished comfortable winners. Listowel are in transition at this age group and both teams had one or two players playing up. It was a good game for our lads to the season up and running after 5 or 6 weeks training. It is great to see all the lads who have been with us since under 10s still coming back week in and week out giving their best. Indeed we have picked up one or two players and we have quite a decent squad to pick from. We were 3 up after 20 minutes with goals from the usual suspects Sean Higgins, Christopher Murphy and Conor Lowe. Listowel upped the ante then for the next 20 minutes it was quite a good contest. Oisin O Brien and substitute Bobby O’Regan finished the game as a contest with 2 quick goals just on half time. The second half started at a slower pace as the heat of the day took it’s toll but once again Christopher found the net. The middle 20 minutes was all Listowel and they forced at least 3 chances during this time including one where they hit the post. In the final 10 minutes Bobby scored another as the game got stretched which suited us more than them. Well done to all the lads on played on the day.
