Fenit Samphires U17s Team 2015/16
Our 17s beat Tralee Dynamos last week on a scoreline of 5-1 in the KDL all weather pitch. Dynamos have lost a number of players recently to the recently formed Kerry U17 team which weakened their hand. We were without Cormac O’Brien and David Lenihan ourselves who were injured. Otherwise we were good to go and dominated the game overall but we had to be on our game defensively as Dynamos were dangerous on the break. Both teams had good keepers on view. Our Brian O’Regan was assured showing good handling, communication and distribution throughout. The Dynamos custodian was the busier of the 2 and made a number of good saves. Our defensive players, Jack Lynch, Ciaran Murray, Aussie Clifford and Ciaran Carmody were mostly on top and tenacious in the tackle. In midfield Sean Donnellan and Sean Collins in the middle drove us on complemented by Dean Meehan and Ed Moynihan on the wings. Up front Christopher Murphy and Conor Lowe were dangerous throughout with Conor notching another 2 goals and going close on a few other occasions. Christopher was involved in all of our goals and is going through a rich vein of creating chances for us in recent games. Our other scorers were Dean Meehan and Sean Collins(2). Subs Alan McElligott and Padraig Donnellan were very good for us and added to our momentum when we tired a little in the second half. Alan’s driving forward from the back gave us another threat and Padraig’s unselfish distribution of the ball down the right helped set up our last 2 goals. Well done to all on the day – keep it up.
