U15s: Samphires 0 v 1 LB Rovers

We were beaten narrowly in the U15 Kerry Cup last weekend at home in Fenit. We lost 1 nil in a match that could have either way. Hard luck to the lads who gave their all and couldn’t be faulted for their efforts on the day.

U14 Girls: Samphires U14 1-0 Castleisland FC U14 (Scorer Grace Reilly)

Fenit girls put in another outstanding performance on a day when our skills and team work was put to the test. Due to various reasons we were only able to play 9 players at the start of the game and the girls had to work hard to keep Castleisland from threatening our goal. On a few occasions our goalkeeper Muireann was called to action with good saves. Playing with the strong breeze in the first half, helped us create a few scoring opportunities with Lilly battling up front. No score at the break. Second half, we got some help from Castleisland team with 2 of their subs players playing with us and this made some difference as our team was getting tired having played first half with a  numerical disadvantage. With 10 mins to go, one of our attack forced a  good save from the Castleisland goalkeeper but the ball slowly rolled  to the bottom corner with Grace Reilly having the last touch. Well done to all the  girls on a  good performance and another win. Special thanks to Castleisland team for great sportsmanship displayed by players and coaches.

U12 Girls: Iveragh FC 6 v 1 Fenit (Scorer Mia O’Connor)

The u12 girls played away to Iveragh FC on a beautiful day last Saturday. We had 15 girls travelling to play a strong Iveragh side. They were always under pressure but made the most of the play for the first quarter. Iveragh had the speed and scored the first goal on 20 minutes in. At 1-0 half time we were still in it but as the game went on we looked tired and Iveragh scored another. Our keeper kept us in the game with some fantastic saves but Iveragh were stronger by far and the better team won. It finished 6- 1 to Iveragh FC. Meah Carmody captain for the day and very unlucky not to score….she hit the cross bar twice. Mia OConnor scored for Samphires and got girl of the match too.
