Seniors: Castleisland 1 v 1 Samphires (Scorer: Kieran O’Mahony)

The seniors earned a point away in the George O’Callaghan All-Weather Pitch in Castleisland. It was nil all at half time and this was still the score after 75 minutes as both sides restricted their opponents to long range efforts. With 15 to go the hosts opened the scoring slightly against the run of play. This forced a response from our team amd management changed the shape of the team to push a number of players into more offensive positions and fortune favoured the brave as we forced a last minute goal through Kieran O’Mahony. The ref blew for full time immediately. Sean Allen, Peter McCarthy, Chick Foley were strong for us at the back with Daniel Clinton catching the eye out the field.

U16 Div 1 Listowel Celtic FC 8 vs 0 Fenit Samphires

What a difference a week makes. Our 17s went to Listowel last week and inflicted a big defeat on Listowel and this week it was the reverse as our 16s lost heavily to the same opposition albeit at U16 level. A poor display by our team who had done well in recent matches. Best for us were Dylan Harris and Daragh Murphy.

U14 Div 1 Fenit Samphires 7 vs 3 Killarney Celtic B (Scorer: Oisin McGibney, Donagh Murphy, Tiernan O’Sullivan, Billy Doyle, Ronan Kelly, Alex McGrath, David Chute)

Our 14s put in their best performance of the season last Saturday in Samphire Park winning 7-3 vs Killarney Celtic B. We 5 up at half time having played with a strong wind. The second half was a more even affair but our defending at times wasn’t up to scratch at all and we conceded a few soft one to give Celtic some hope but at the other end we were getting in often enough but weren’t as efficient as the first half. Gary Riordan at the back and David Chute in midfield gave some excellent performances.

U12 Div 1 Fenit Samphires vs Tralee Dynamos (Scorer Gregory Clifford)

Our 12s lost their unbeaten record at home to Dynamos last weekend. It wasn’t our best performance with many of our lads below par. Dynamos didn’t come to Fenit to make up the numbers and were looking for revenge after losing the reverse fixture recently. It was a bit of a dog-fight where a draw would probably have been the right result but Dynamos forced a winner at the death to win the game.

Bereavement: The club would like to extend it’s condolences to Samphires Coach Diarmuid Reilly and his family on the recent passing of his sister Siobhan in Tuam Co Galway. Ar dheis Dé lena anam.
