Congrats to Samphires keeper Brian O’Regan who has been selected to play for the Kerry U19s in the upcoming League of Ireland season.
With the inclement weather we only had a couple of fixtures last weekend.
Boys U 17s: Samphires 13 v 2 Listowel (Scorers Conor Gaynor,  Liam Tobin (3), Eddie Stack (2), Gavin Burrows (2) Tommy Burns, Eddie McCarthy, Cormac Lynch, Eoin Higgins(2))
Our U17s played Listowel last Saturday in a league match. With a number of the team away on a school transition year trip we were forced to call up 6 U16’s and all acquitted themselves very well and we won comfortably. It was another good passing game by the lads who are growing as players as the year progresses. Good stuff boys.
Girls U16s: Kenmare 2 v 0 Samphires
Out U16s made the journey to Kenmare on Saturday. Kenmare are 2nd in the league and a very strong team so we knew we had a hard task ahead. We started really well and our defence of Katie, Dervla, Clara and Laura were called upon early but soaked up any pressure that came their way. Our midfield of Daisy and Aoife were excellent at distributing the ball to our forwards Lilly and Katie. Lilly was denied a goal by a superb save from the Kenmare keeper just before the half. All square at half time and we knew that we would be out under huge pressure in the 2nd. Our keeper Muireann was very busy in the 2nd half but Mairead and Ciara on the wings were able to get forward and we were unlucky not to score. Grace who slotted in well in midfield in this half and pushed us on. It was looking like we would share the points but 5 minutes from the end Kenmare got around our defence and managed to score. This was a hard blow and our heads went down and we left in another goal seconds from the final whistle. Our girls gave their best performance of the season and are improving with every game.
