Seniors: Samphires 2 v 1 Ratoo Rovers (Scorer Ger McCarthy)

Well done to the seniors who advanced to the next round of the Greyhound Bar Cup with a hard fought win over Ratoo. We went 1 nil up in the first half through Ger Mac after a good team move. Ratoo hit back soon after with a header from a cross. We had a decent amount of possession in the second half and eventually made it tell when we forced a penalty which Ger converted. Ratoo pushed hard for the last 20 minutes but our defensive players Peter, Chick, Anthony and Kieran were strong for us and we held out to win 2-1.

U16s: Park B 3 v 0 Samphires

Our lads lost out in an excellent game last Saturday in The George O’Callaghan All Weather pitch in Castleisland. In effect we were playing the Park U15A team. It was an even enough game but the Park had a little bit more about them and deserved the victory. We were happy with our performance though and showed we’re doing a lot of things right and improving all the time. Paddy O’Sullivan in goals was solid, Paddy Walsh at the back was commanding and Eddie McCarthy caught the eye but well done to all the lads.

U14s: Tralee Dynamos 5 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Paddy Falvey)

The 14s had a tough day away to Dynamos in Tralee last weekend. We hadn’t played since December and were well off the pace in the first 20 minutes and failed to impose ourselves on the game against a good team. We conceded 3 goals in the first 20 minutes and seemed that it would get worse the lads did pick it up after this and got back into the game. Billy Doyle and Oisin McGibney were getting to it in midfield and  after some sustained pressure Paddy Falvey scored from a Ronan Kelly cross. The second half was an even affair but Dynamos got 2 late goals towards the end as we committed lots of players to the attack. Billy Walsh and Gearóid O’Connor at the back and Alex McGrath were some other players who had good games.

U12 Girls: Kenmare 6 v 0 Samphires

Our U12 girls played away to Kenmare FC this Saturday in what was a very cold day led by captain Ciara Collins. The girls started very brightly with great defence and energy. Kenmare were a very physical team and put great width on the ball at every opportunity. Our goal keeper Anna was in top form and pulled off some great saves. Cara, Charlotte, Erin, Meave, Eva, May were fantastic at the back. Kenmare scored twice with 2 close offside decisions going their way. We were very positive at half time and felt we could score a goal. Meah, Grace, Emily Rose and Ashling were brilliant in centre with Ciara, Elisha, Rachel and Caitlin always going forward.  Ciara Collins added intensity but it was Anna in goals and girl of the match grace that stood out.The score does not reflect the game and this team is growing with every match and should be proud of their performance.

U12 Boys: Samphires B 0 v 6 Park

The 12 B team lost out to a strong Park outfit last Saturday in Fenit. Again our boys tried their hearts out but the shooting is still letting us down. Best for us were Conor McGibney and Paddy Hanafin
