U17 Girls Samphires 2 vs 0 Killarney Athletic (Scorer Jade Harkin)

Our U17s girls had their first win of the season this morning with a 2 nil victory over Killarney Athletic. We have played Athletic a lot over the last few seasons and they are always very close games. At half time it was nil all but Katie Dwyer had come close with a great shot on target which was saved by their keeper. We had 15 players available to us today and we took great advantage of the substitutions so fatigue wasn’t really a factor. Our backs were very solid leaving out keeper with little to do. We have always found it difficult to score goals but our forwards were hungry today and their efforts were awarded with two lovely goals from Jade Harkin who has shown great potential in previous games and got her reward today. Left back Laura Reilly had a fantastic game today and worked really hard to shore up our defence. Dervla in midfield was tireless as well and worked very hard. It was hard to pick out anyone in particular as every one of the 15 girls put in a great shift. Well done girls!

U13 Girls Samphires 0 vs 8 MEK

Fenit U13 girls played at home to premiere League leaders MEK last Saturday. This was always going to be a tough ask for our young team but it was so pleasing to see the effort and high work rate from our girls and as always the attitude was top drawer. Well done girls against very strong MEK side. U13 girls premiere…… fenit 0 MEK 8 Girl of match shared…. Emily Rose Murphy and Anna Chute. Captain Ciara Quilter.

Dingle Bay Rovers 4-0 Fenit Samphires Green. Two goals in each half handed our girls in Green a defeat on their trip to Gallarus on Saturday last. In the first half we weathered some early pressure and created a few chances of our own. However some sustained attacks resulted in 2 quick fire goals for DBR midway through the half. In a very even second half DBR scored a further two goals with the aid of a deflection and a well taken shot which gave the scoreline a flattering look. There were a lot of great performances from our players and they can all be very proud of their efforts.

U13 Boys Samphires B 1 vs 2 Camp B (Scorer Peter O’Mahony)

Though we lost the match in the end we can be quite satisfied with our performance last Saturday. Camp dominated proceedings early on but Jack Lyne in goals was assured and quick to come off his line. After 20 minutes the pressure told and we conceded. The rest of the first half was nip and tuck but neither team was able to score. Early in the second half we conceded a very unfortunate own goal from a corner but within 2 minutes Peter O’Mahony scored a free to make it 2-1. we pushed and pushed as best we could for the rest of the match but Camp’s defence held out for the victory. So another improvement by this team…well done boys.
