Boys U18s: Dingle Bay Rovers 4 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Dara Heim)

The Boys U18s travelled to Dingle on Saturday. Wet and windy day made conditions very tough. The team has weakened in recent weeks with a number of players deciding to concentrate on playing football. Our team had a great first half but found themselves down 2-1. The game was very tight and at half time we had every chance if we could hold our shape and continued to play as we were. We got impatient as has been happening in recent games chasing the game which left us exposed to two counter attacks and two goals to Dingle. A change at the back settled everything down and we competed well in the last 30 mins. Final result was 4-1 to Dingle.

Boys U16s: LB Rovers 7 v 3 Samphires (Scorer Jack Kearney, Ben Donnellan, David Feely)

A poor display by us in this one and we were well beaten by a better team. They pressed us right from the off and we struggled to cope. Our defending was poor and may of our players are still having trouble controlling the ball. As the game progressed we improved but too little too late. Ben Donnellan at the back was excellent throughout and David Chute behind him was very good too. Dylan Ryan up front in the first half posed the only threat for us with little help from out midfield players. The second half was better but overall we were disappointed with our performance. The standard at training is good but we are not bringing it into the games.

Boys U12s:

U12 Div 1 Fenit 2 vs St Brendan’s Park 0 (Scorer Conor McGibney(2))

A great result for Fenit against follow league contenders St Brendan’s Park. Fenit started strongly and applied the early pressure. We scored a fabulous opener with a fantastic header from Conor McGibney after a fine cross from Mike Corridon.

With Gary Egan strong in goals making a couple of fine saves and assisted by Luke O’Carroll, Paddy Hanafin and Robert O’Shea in defence we minimised the chances for Park. Midfield of Dara Harty, Austin Donnellan, Conor McGibney and Michael O’Sullivan were full of energy and fought hard for possession. Mikey Corridan up front was a constant menace to the Park defence. Fenit went in at half-time 1-0 up.

Second half was back and forth but we had the better chances and scored a second again from Conor McGibney. Evan Lyons, Danny Gazi and Eamonn Hickey came on as subs and provided extra energy and work-rate and no little skill. We had a number of chances to extend our lead and were unlucky with a third from Conor disallowed for offside.

Great performances all round but best for Fenit was Gary Egan in goal who was commanding and made a couple of good saves when the game was in the balance.

Our U12B match was called off at the last moment as the other team could not field a team so we had a training match instead.

Boys U10s:

Two teams took part in the U10 blitz on Killorglin.

It was a great day of football for the two Fenit teams that took part in the u10 blitz. They had games against Tralee Dynamos, Listowel Celtic and Killarney Celtic and all did their best. Some great goals on scored and some fine defending. Well done and thanks to parents for travelling.

Boys U9s:

The U9s travelled to Camp to play a couple of games under lights on Friday evening. They enjoyed the experience and thanks to Camp for hosting us.
