Boys U16s Shield: Samphires 4 v 3 Killorglin ‘B’ (Scorers Bobby O’Connor(2), Dylan Ryan, David Dineen)

Well done to the Boys 16s who edged Killorglin ‘B’ last Thursday in a 7 goal thriller. The game swung throughout and both teams might feel that they could have won. With 2 minutes left on the clock we were 2-1 up and were in control of the game. We scored what seemed to be a 3rd goal to kill off the game through a superb piece of skill by Bobby O’Connor who rediscovered his form in this game and was dangerous throughout. Unbelievably Killorglin hit us for 2 goals in injury time to level but in the last attack Dylan Ryan popped up to score the winner which he deserved based on his performance throughout. Final result  Samphires 4 v 3 Killorglin ‘B’.

GirlsFenit Samphires were represented at the Kerry Girls Soccer event held on Saturday in Castleisland. Our u12 girls team played in the morning blitz and did super against Killarney Celtic, LB Rovers and Ballyheigue and all girls really enjoyed the experience.

Along with workshops and exhibition matches between Women’s National League team Cork City, DLR Waves and Wexford Youths there was also training sessions for the u13 and u15 squads where Fenit Samphires were well represented.

Great day and thanks to all the organisers. The girls game in Kerry is going from strength to strength and the Fenit Samphires girls are playing their part!

Boys U12 Shield: Samphires 5 vs Killorglin 2 (Scorers Tiernan O’Keefe(2), Roman Carey-McGibney, Danny Gazi, Cillian O’Brien)

A good win in the Shield for Fenit with some good performances. We started strongly and scored early on with a great finish from Tiernan O’Keefe after a maurading run down the right. We were well on top and causing a lot of problems and scored through a fine finish from Roman Carey-McGibney. Killorglin started to fight back and we had to defend with Colm O’Sullivan, Tiernan O’Keefe and both Eamon and Eoghan Wiseman all fighting hard to keep Killorglin at bay. We scored a third just before half-time with a great long range strike from Danny Gazi. Half-time 3-0.

Second Half: We were against the wind but went 4-0 up with a goal from birthday boy Cillian O’Brien. Killorglin struck back with a freak goal due to a defensive lapse on our part but Tiernan O’Keefe who was full of running all game broke forward to score his 2nd and Fenit’s fifith. Killorglin got a consolation but Fenit were well deserved winners. Best for us was Tiernan O’Keefe who played a blinder on the right wing.

U10 Boys v Camp Cup and Shield

The Boys U10s travelled to Camp for Cup and shield games. These U10 games are a new initiative this year and certainly are a great addition and give the lads a taste of cup action. Both teams did really well and emerged victorious after two closely fought contests. Well done to both teams.
