U15 Boys MEK 1 v 0 Fenit Samphires

We started our league season with a narrow defeat away to MEK in Fossa. We dominated the game possession wise throughout but didn’t bring our shooting boots. For the first 15 minutes we couldn’t penetrate the MEK defensive line with some sloppy passing and good tackling bt our opponents. We got through a few times after this but couldn’t apply the finishing touch. A reasonable start to the season apart from the result. Big thanks too as always to all the parents who took the trouble of bringing the kids to the match.

U14 Boys Castleisland 2 v 1 Fenit Samphires (Scorer: Michael O’Sullivan)
Fenit U14’s went down to a defeat in their first match of the new season away to Castleisland. It was a tight match with lots of commitment on both sides. We were missing a few players and had only the bare 11 but started brightly and played some nice football to create a few half-chances. We scored first with a header from Michael O’Sullivan after a nice cross from Conor McGibney. However Castleisland fought back and while our defence stood firm we conceded from a fabulous shot from 25 yards from the Castleisland fullback which goalkeeper Gary Egan could do nothing about. Half-time 1-1
Second half we played well and created three excellent one on one chances but couldn’t score against a excellent Castleisland goalkeeper. We conceded the 2nd from a shot from left hand side and while we pushed for an equalizer it never arrived. Great effort from all the players but Paddy Hanafin stood out at centre back. Hopefully with some returning players we will improve the results.
