Seniors Munster Junior Cup: MEK 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorers Ger McCarthy (2) and Dara Heim)

Our senior squad made the trip to Killorglin last Sunday to play MEK in the Munster Junior Cup. It was quite a good game especially when you take the horrendous conditions with the scoreline flattering us slightly but in the end it was a deserved win for our lads. Probably the main difference between the teams is that we were able to create chances in the final third a bit more easily than our opponents on the day. Our scorers were Ger McCarthy (2) and Dara Heim.

Boys U14s Div 1 Killarney Athletic B 3 v 4 Samphires (Scorers: Conor McGibney, Dara Harty (3))
A terrific result in Killarney on Saturday for the U14s with a much depleted side due to players being away or injured. We had to bring up a number of additional U13’s to make up the numbers but to a man they all battled hard and fought for every ball in a fantastic game of football. Killarney Athletic started strongly and went two up in the first half, the 1st a fine finish from their centre forward and the 2nd a sloppy goal from a corner where we didn’t close them down quickly enough. Importantly however we hit back before half-time with a great finish from Conor McGibney. We started the 2nd half on top and scored three goals in a row all from Dara Harty – the first a great free kick, the 2nd a close in finish and the last a good finish from a defensive mistake by Killarney. They battled back but the Fenit defence of Robert O’Shea, Tiernan O’Keefe, Diarmuid Murphy, Austin Donnellan and Sean Cronin fought hard to hold them out. We conceded a very dubious penalty towards the end but despite some last minute pressure we held out for a fantastic win. MOTM for Fenit – Sean Cronin but well done to all involved.

Samphires U12s continue their unbeaten start to the season with a dominant 6-0 victory over Camp. Despite being in complete control Fenit held a narrow 1-0 lead at HT with the Camp goalkeeper making some incredible saves. The 2nd half saw the team step it a notch and finally convert the many chances they were creating. Goal scorers on the day were Cillian O’Brien (2), Cody Deady (2), Danny Gazi and Tadgh Diggins. A great team performance from all the boys keep up the great work.
