U14’s Tom Hayes Cup Samphires 2 – 5 Tralee Dynamos (Scorers: Michael O’Sullivan, Evan Lyons)
A disappointing result for U14’s against a strong Tralee Dynamos team that are playing at a higher level than us. We started against a strong breeze and were under pressure from the start but the defence stood strong for the first 20 minutes with a few good saves from Gary Egan in goals also. Dynamos took the lead however after a long ball was allowed to bounce and led to their centre forward getting in for a simple finish. We fought back and scored a great goal from Michael O’Sullivan after his initial shot hit the post. Half-time 1-1.
We played with the wind in the 2nd half but Dynamos were growing in terms of their play We were holding our own until a defensive mix up led to Dynamos going 2-1 up. They scored again shortly afterwards but heading into the last 10-15 minutes we were pushing to get back into the game and had a few half-chances. Dynamos killed off the game however, as we made a few substitutions and lost our shape a little. We did pull one back before the end with Evan Lyons getting a touch on Michael O’Sullivan’s cross. A deserved win for Dynamos who were a little too strong for us. Best for Samphires was Paddy Hanafin at centre half.
