Our Vertical Mile fun-run last Easter Monday was a great success and hopefully all who took part are well recovered now. Thanks to the Oyster who let us use their car park and thanks to Mike O’Neill in the Beach Shop who supplied the refreshments for everyone. Thanks too to Jim McCarthy of Digimac for taking some photos for us. Finally big thanks to all who helped organise the event and to all those who supported it in any way.

Boys U15s: Tralee Dynamos B 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorers: Noah O’Carroll, Gregory Clifford, Cian McKenna)

We travelled into Tralee last Saturday to play Dynamos B in the Shield Quarter Final. We started well and had a lot of the play against a determined opponent who kept us at bay for 20 minutes but eventually we forced a goal through Noah O’Carroll who got a poacher’s goal at the far post. Soon after Gregory Clifford scored a second after some great interplay with Charlie, Kealan, Cian and Aaron. We then had to sustain some pressure till half time but our defence was resolute and limited Dynamos to shots from distance. We got back on top after the half and Cian McKenna got our third goal early, after Aaron, Thomas and Jack Nolan combined to set him up. After this the game went from end to end but neither team could find an opening so it finished 3 – 0. Well done to all the lads from both teams for such a good game.

Samphires U14s v Killarney Athletic April 22

Girls U14s: Killarney Athletic 1 v 4 Samphires (Scorers: Sarah O Sullivan, Siofra Murphy, Alisha Deady(2))

The U14 Girls travelled to Killarney Athletic early Saturday morning. After a slow start the girls played better in the 2nd half eventually breaking down a very well organised defence when Sarah O Sullivan opened the scoring. We then conceded a goal from a penalty. The girls didn’t drop their heads and pushed on scoring three more goals in the last 10 mins, one from Siofra Murphy and two from Alisha Deady. Game finished 4- 1 to Fenit. Thanks to Killarney Athletic for a very sporting game.

Boys U14s: Tralee Dynamos B 1 v 6 Samphires (Scorers: Evan Lowe, Austin Donnellan, Luke O’Carroll, Dara Harty, Mikey Corridan(2))
A good win for U14’s against Tralee Dynamos team who were playing up a division. It was keenly fought from the start but Fenit got on top and scored from a corner after Evan Lowe wandered up from left back to pop in from close in. We got a second from a shot from Austin Donnellan after a through ball from Dara Harty. 2-0 at half-time.
2nd half – We started to dominate and scored further goals through Luke O’Carroll and Dara Harty. Mikey Corridan scored two towards the end before Tralee Dynamos got a consolation. A good performance and some nice football Best for us was Evan Lowe at left-back but well done to all our players.

Boys U12s: Dingle Bay Rovers 1 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Cillian O’Brien)

Our U12’s today were crowned Div1 North Champions completing the season unbeaten. Our final league game today resulted in a 1-1 draw away to Dingle Bay Rovers – in very difficult conditions (wind) we struggled in the first half and went in at half time 1-0 behind despite playing with the elements. After some home truths at HT the team came out and against the wind completely controlled the second half. The break through eventually came when Conor Nolan slipped a beautiful reverse through ball to Cillian O’Brien who finished with aplomb. These boys have been a credit to themselves and the club all season and to remain unbeaten is an amazing achievement. That we have conceded only 7 goals throughout the campaign is unbelievable and a sign of the never say die attitude which has stood to them all throughout- Congrats to every boy who has taken part – Samphires ABÚ
