Results/Updates/Girls Visit to Cork City W/E 18/09/2022

Girls U13s: “A great day out for our u-13 Girls on Saturday at Turners Cross as we were the guests of Cork City FC Women at their FAI Women’s National League match vs Galway WFC. An exciting game that ended in a 90 min winner for Cork courtesy of Becky Cassin and capped of a day of great memories for our players. Thanks to Erika an Co. for treating us to such a memorable day!”

Seniors: The senior mens team have gotten off to a rocky start to the season losing both the first league game to Clochan Breannainn 2 nil and also in the Munster Junior Cup at home to Ballyheigue on a score of 3 – 1 (Scorer Dara Heim). The team is going through a transition with a number of players from the last few seasons injured and others deciding to play elsewhere. On the flipside, some of the peripheral players from last season are now getting their chance and the Youth team players are starting to break through too. We played quite well against a well organised Ballyheigue team, having the lion’s share of possession but couldn’t break them down. Ballyheigue on the counter were quite effective and exposed an area of the game we will have to address going forward. We are quite lucky in our management team and if the team follow their lead, we will turn the results in the next short while.

Boys U14s V Tralee Dynamos Sept 2022

Boys U14s: Fenit 5 v 1 Tralee Dynamos (Scorers: Tom Lenihan , Mikey Corridan(4))
A fantastic performance from all in a comprehensive win over a strong Tralee Dynamos team who have started strongly in the U14’s Premier League. Our intensity and drive was back after a poor performance against Killarney. We fought and tackled like our lives depended on it from the start and gave ourselves the time to play some football. We scored from a cross from Evan Lyons which was finished by Tom Lenihan. Dynamos fought back and put on the pressure but the defence of Evan Lyons, Diarmuid Murphy, Danny Gazi and Tiernan O’Keefe with Rob O’Shea in goals held firm. 1-0 at half-time.
Second half we scored another through Mikey with a prodded finish after a through ball. Dara Harty, Luke O’Carroll, Austin Donnellan, and Tom Lenihan started to get on top in midfield and a further 3 goals for Mikey from some lovely through balls finished off the game and despite Dynamos getting a consolidation goal we were comfortable at the end and could have scored a few more.  Great game from all but best for Fenit was Dara Harty who was immense in midfield.

Boys U13s: Ballyhar 5 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Cillian O’Brien)

Our U13’s travelled to Ballyhar for our second match of the season. Following a very difficult first we trailed at HT by 5-0. The second half however showed what this team is about with the lads never letting their heads drop and trying their hardest until the end. We never looked like conceding another goal and were well on top throughout scoring one goal to leave the final score 5 – 1 to Ballyhar. It’s a big step in grade for players this season but if we continue to play like we did in the 2nd half no doubt we will have better days ahead.
