Samphires 18s v Tralee Dynamos Sept 24 2022

Seniors: Samphires 2 v 0 Fern Celtic B (Clare) (Scorers ) FAI Junior Cup – Round 1 – Clare DL,Kerry DL & Limerick Desmond

Boys U18s: Munster Youths Cup: Samphires 0 v 2 Tralee Dynamos
Fenit may have lost this 1st round Cup game, but the result doesn’t reflect in any way the story of this highly competitive match . With just the bare minimum available, a patched up Fenit dominated this game for long periods in the 1st and 2nd half , only to be undone by complete exhaustion and a brilliantly executed goal for Dynamos, 20 minutes from time. We created many half chances and forced as many corners while playing some very attractive football, but unfortunately lacked a clinical finish. All eleven players can certainly be very proud of their performances but special mention must be given to debutants Jayden Deady and Niall Collins, who were both outstanding. Dynamos completed the scoring in the last few minutes with a looping shot to put the game beyond the host team.

Girls U16s: MEK 7 v 0 Samphires

First League game for U16s on Saturday morning in Fossa v MEK. While the result didn’t go our way there were a lot of positives. We have a young squad, majority of whom will be u16 next season again so this year will be a learning experience. Great first starts for Rachel and Shona who took to the game really well. Special mention to Meah Carmody who had a great game in midfield and to Mai O Connor who put herself on the line countless times. We train again next Thursday in Ardfert 8 to 9.

Boys U15s: Mastergeeha 7 v 0 Samphires

A very disappointing result for our first match in U15’s Div 1. Without a couple of U15’s we had to play some additional U14’s and it told against a powerful Mastergeeha team. We were under pressure from the start and although we held out for first 10-15 minutes we struggled to get out of our half and our passing and control was not good enough to break their press. We conceded from a break down our left with a low shot into the near post. From a defensive mix up we gave away possession and were punished again before three more goals in quick succession killed the game. 5-0 at half-time.
2nd half was a slight improvement, we made some chances and fought a little harder to win the ball back and we defended well at times. But we have a lot of work to do both individually and as a team. Best on the evening for Samphires was Evan Lyons at left back.

Boys U12s: Samphires 1 v 4 LB Rovers (Scorer Cody Deady)

Our u12 Green Team played their first league game v LB Rovers in Div 1 on Tuesday evening. We conceded in the first half but came back well after the break to equalise. We lost our shape a little as the game went on as we ran the bench and LB pulled away to win late in the game. A lot of positives from our first league match.
