Seniors: Samphires 2 v 0 Fern Celtic (Scorers: Cian O’Neill, Conor Lenihan)

Great result by our Seniors last Sunday in the FAI Junior Cup – Round 1. Cian O’Neill and Conor Lenihan with the goals. The performance was encouraging as we looked to get the ball down and play all throughout the game. Nice to get the clean sheet as well!

Boys U16s: Dingle Bay Rovers 2 v 1 Samphires (Scorer: Cian McKenna)

We travelled to Dingle last Saturday hoping to build on our midweek win. Unfortunately we had quite a poor first half, our defending was not good and allowed Dingle to gain the upper hand for the first 20 minutes. They scored after 15 minutes and we couldn’t say it wasn’t coming. A fast break down our right flank after we lost the ball in their half and a brilliant finish gave them the lead. We were good going forward and created the same number of chances as our opponents but we failed to capitalise…it could have been 4 all at half time….We has most of the possessions in the second half and created multiple chances and managed to squandered them all bar one when Cian came in at the back post for a tap in after some ggo approach work by Aaron and Kealan. Overall, quite a good performance in lots of ways, but we have plenty to work on.

Boys U16s: Samphires 4 v 1 Camp Juniors (Scorers: Charlie Nolan, Aaron Harty, Gregory Clifford, Conor Dennehy)

We hosted Camp in our first league match of the season last Tuesday night. We went 1 down after a minute after conceding a needless free 20 yards out which was duly drilled over the wall into the net. We came back into it and gave as good as we got and possibly should have scored. Camp were very dangerous in possession and Jack Dwyer saved us from going 2 down just before the halftime whistle. We had the gale with us in the second half and pushed hard for goals. Charlie equalised after 10 minutes and the Aaron and Gregory got 2 in quick succession after 25 minutes. It was game on then but we held out and scored a 4th in injury time on the counter to put a gloss on the score for us. Well done to both teams on a very damp evening with a gale force wind blowing but the teams served a good game nonetheless.

Boys U14s: Killorglin 2 v 2 Samphires (Scorers: Mikey Corridon, Dara Harty)
A battling performance against an improving Killorglin side who have started very strongly in the Premier division. Killorgllin started brightly and we gave away a sloppy goal with poor defending. We battled back however and scored from a free kick by Dara Harty. From here to half-time we played some very good football and our passing was excellent and we moved Killorglin around the pitch without finishing some decent half-chances. 1-1 at half-time.
We continued in the second half on top and our good play finally paid off with a prodded finish by Mikey putting us ahead. We could have increased our lead but Killorglin held firm and then started to battle back. We tired in last 10-15 mins and Killorglin created a number of chances which eventually lead to the equalizer. Disappointing not to hold out for a win but the performance was very good and we are improving all the time.

Girls U13s: Fenit Samphires 3 MEK 3 (Scorer: Ava Flaherty(3))

Our unbeaten run in our league campaign continued today with a highly entertaining game at Samphires Park. A brilliant hat trick from Ava Flaherty and some superb attacking play was not enough to get the 3 pts as MEKs goalkeeper was in inspiring form. Once again the whole squad did Fenit Samphires proud. Well done everyone.
