Seniors: QPR 2 v 0 Samphires

Our seniors had another tough day out last weekend losing 2 nil to a good QPR team. Results continue to go against us but we will just have to tough it out with hard work at training and maybe have a bit more mean defensive mindset on match day.

Girls U16s v Listowel Celtic Feb 2023

Girls U16s: Samphires 1 v 3 Listowel Celtic (Scorer Siofra Murphy)

Fantastic game of football served up by two evenly matched sides under the lights in Ardfert. This game was played at an intense pace from the start and was a testament to the strength of the girls game in the County. Siofra Murphy scored for Fenit in the first half following great free from Grace Reilly. Listowel equalised just before half time. The pace did not let up in the 2nd half. However our lack of subs began to show as we tired against a strong wind. Listowel scored two goals direct from corner kicks which won them the game. We had a number of scoring opportunities but just ran out of luck and steam. We had girls aged 12 to 14 playing for Fenit all should be proud of their performance. Again special mention to Evie O Sullivan, Sadhbh Dowling and Sarah Chute from our u13s who were brilliant.

On a historic week for football in the County, with Kerry FC playing first LOI game on Friday, it would be no surprise if many of the girls from both sides could be playing in a Kerry FC Senior Women’s team in the National League in the Future…!. Something to aspire too.⚽⚽

Thanks to Listowel for sporting game and to the parents for great support.

Girls U12s v Killarney Celtic Feb 2023

Boys 15s: Samphires 0 vs 7 Mastergeeha
A tough day for a severely weakened U15 team who were missing 5-6 full age players – The Mastergeeha team is probably a premier league team in all but name and it showed as we struggled to get out of our own half against the breeze and conceded some poor goals. We were better in the 2nd half and battled hard but still conceded a couple more. Thanks to all who stepped up to help us out especially Grace, Meah and Mai who played really well.

Girls U12s: Killarney Celtic 0 v 0 Samphires

Our team of the week were our Girls 12s who travelled to Killarney Celtic last Saturday and came away with a point. The reverse fixture at the start of the season was a heavy defeat for us, so we can see the hard work paying off. Well done to all the girls and their coaches.
