Girls U15s Community Games Apr23

Community Games: Well done to all the Fenit Samphires Girls who won Bronze medals in the u15 Community games soccer in Mastergeeha today. A lot our players have another year or two at this age group and acquitted themselves very well.

Boys U15s: Samphires 0 v 3 Killarney Celtic
We had a weakened team on Thursday with a number of key players injured or missing. It told as we struggled to compete against a strong Killarney Celtic team. We conceded two sloppy goals in the first half as we failed to defend crosses. In the 2nd half we played better and started to string some passes about. Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite finish and missed some very good chances in front of goal. We paid for this when Killarney scored a third against the run of play. Best for Fenit Diarmuid Murphy who played very well at centre half.

Boys U15s Semi-Final Shield Fenit 0 v 5 Mastergeeha
Again, unfortunately, we had a weakened team against a very physically strong Mastergeeha team who obviously had a team of full age players whereas we were playing a number of players up a year or indeed two years in some cases. We actually started really brightly and played all the football in the first 10 minutes and had a couple of 1/2 chances. However, we conceded an unlucky goal from a deflected header and our heads dropped for the next 5-10 mins and in that period, we conceded again from a header.
Again, we fought back in the 2nd half and played some nice football without ever really looking like scoring. They scored against the run of play from a fantastic strike from distance which left Gary in goals no chance. The physical side of the game began to tell and the much older Mastergeeha team began to dominate and scored two further goals. Credit to the lads for keeping on going but it wasn’t our day. Best for us was Eoghan Crowley at left back.

Samphires U13s vs Castleisland Apr 23

U13 Girls: Samphires 1 v 0 Castleisland (Scorer: Ava Flaherty)

A hard fought cup win at Samphire Park today as two hard working teams battled it out but we managed to come out on top thanks to a goal from Ava Flaherty the stroke of half time. Every single player worked tirelessly to ensure that we are in the draw for the next round of the cup. Well done everyone 👏⚽
