Samphires U15s vs Killarney Celtic Dec 2023

Boys U15s: Samphires 4 v Killarney Celtic (Scorers: Conor Finn(2))

Our U15 team took on Killarney Celtic at home on Saturday 2nd December. Conditions were perfect for soccer, no breeze, and dry. We started well. Scoring from a free kick from left to right, with an opportunistic finish from Conor Finn on the right post, arriving late and finishing well. The two teams were evenly matched and after a sustained period of pressure Killarney Celtic equalised. During the second half the game opened up with more space available for flowing soccer, both teams putting together some quick attacking moves. Again we got a free on the right of the field, and again Conor Finn scored in the right corner. The game finished Fenit Samphires 2: Killarney Celtic 1. Another fantastic performance from the boys.

Boys U14s: Samphires 4 v 3 Killorglin B (Scorers: Conor Finn(2), Cody Deady, Gary Parker)

Our U14s returned to action today at home to Killorglin. Having lost our previous game 1-0 to LB Rovers, this was a much higher scoring game, and in the end, we won out on a scoreline of 4-3. The home side started the game brightly and deservedly took the lead after 15 mins through Conor Finn after some great work from Zach Kearney, who was superb all through the game. Having taken the lead, we then let Killorglin back into the game through some sloppy play of our own – the sides going in 1-1 at HT. We started the 2nd half slowly and went behind 2-1 but fought back to equalise shortly after through Conor Finn with his 2nd of the game. Unfortunately, a lack of concentration from a kick out and a superb finish from the Killorglin attacker we found ourselves 3-2 behind. The one outstanding trait of this team, however, is that they never give up, and we managed to equalise again through Cody Deady, and with very little time left, we managed to snatch a winner through Gary Parker. We had one very late scare, but Conor Nolan made an incredible last ditch tackle to earn all 3 points for the home side. Well done lads keep up the good work.

Girls U13s: Samphires 0 v 4 Camp

League leaders Camp Juniors came to Samphire Park in Fenit and were pushed all the way in an enjoyable spectacle. After a well balanced opening quarter to the match, the game turned with Fenit missing a penalty opportunity and Camp scoring shortly after. Another goal from Camp on the stroke of halftime took the shine off what had been a good first half from the home team. The second half went the way of the first with Camp being clinical with their opportunities and Fenit being very unlucky to miss a number of theirs. The game finished 4-0 to Camp but both sides played good football throughout.

Boys U12s Nov 2023

Boys U12s: Samphires 4 v 1 Killarney Athletic (Scorers: Conor Walsh, Conor James, Daniel Lawlor, Ben Stack)

Mixed results for the U12 boys team this weekend. First up were the Green team who played Killarney Athletic at home on Saturday evening. A well organised Killarney side proved very difficult to breakdown in the final third and despite constant pressure a really good display form their keeper frustrated us for most of the first half until a loose ball was put away by Conor Walsh which settled our lads and was followed up by goals from Conor James, Daniel Lawlor and Ben Stack. Hugely impressive performances from Fionn Lyons and Oran Flaherty and one of those days for Aran Keating who struck the upright on 3 occasions and was kept out by the excellent Killarney keeper who just seemed to get in the way of everything. A last minute goal from Killarney rounded off a really sporting game from two sides who both played good football.

Boys U12s: Samphires 1 v 5 Tralee Dynamos (Scorer: Fionn McCarthy)

The Black team came up against a quick and aggressive Dynamos team in the following game and whilst we continue to show good improvement with standout performances from Zack Mullins and Fionn McCarthy we were caught on 3 occasions from crossed balls and we definitely didn’t play as well as we could have on the night. A late and well deserved goal from the excellent Fionn McCarthy left us on the wrong side of a 5-1 defeat.

Well done to Samphires Hannah Barrett-Neziri from our U12s, who played her first match with Kerry U12s in Tralee yesterday. They beat South Tipperary 6 – 0. Hannah represented us incredibly well and with great pride.
