Seniors: Div 1A: Samphires 0 v 1 Mainebank

After a very tough battle against in form league leaders Mainebank last weekend we conceded a late goal to lose out narrowly. It was a good performance from our lads against a team that gave us a good hockeying earlier in the season. Both goalkeepers had a very good game, keeping their teams in it till the end, but Mainebank’s aerial power just got them over the line from a corner with a couple of minutes to go.

Samphires 7 v 0 Windmill United (Scorers: Cian McKenna(2), Peter McCarthy, Richard Burke, Ger McCarthy, Joe Carmody(2))

Well done to our seniors last week as they won well against Windmill. Lots of lads on the scoresheet too, so hope we can go on on from here.

U14s vs Park Feb 24

U14 Girls: Samphires 3 v 4 Park (Scorers: Ava O’Flaherty (2), Evie O’Sullivan)

Very unlucky last Thursday night as our team just came out on the wrong side of a very entertaining game. Our team were simply phenomenonal from first minute to last. Considering we haven’t had a competitive game since well before Christmas, this performance had everything we associate with this group of players, heart , energy and plenty of character. Better days ahead for sureπŸ‘βš½.

U13 Boys: Mastergeeha 0 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Evan Neary)

Well done to the boys U13s who won away in Mastergeeha, always a tough place to go. We just about got through with a fine goal by Evan in the first half after being put after some combination play between Coady Deady, Jack Corridan and Conor Stack. Patrick Egan in goals and Cathal Harris up front were at their best, but the full squad played their part.

U13 Boys: Samphires B 6 v 3 Listowel Celtic C (Scorer Ben Stack (3), Conor Dineen, Adam Fitzgerald and O.G.)

After being 2 nil down early, our lads came back strongly and we were 3 – 2 up at half time through some fine finishing from Ben Stack. We continued our dominance in the 3rd quarter and scored another 3, through Tom O’Sullivan (2), and finally Adam Fitzgerald after being put through by Conor Dineen. Listowel dominated the last quarter and scored a penalty making the last few minutes a bit nervy for us, but we held out with the improving Ronan Finn, in goals, Fiachra Γ“ Slatara and Daniel Lawlor in defence, having a steadying influence on the team.

Girls U12s vs Listowel Celtic Feb 2024

U12s: Samphires 5 v 2 Listowel Celtic (Scorers: Hannah Barrett-Neziri(4), Lucy Dillon)

Our U12s played Listowel Celtic on Saturday afternoon in the Cup and had a great victory by 5-2 in Fenit. Goals from Hannah Barrett-Neziri (4) and Lucy Dillon secured the victory, but there were super performances all over the pitch. Julie in goals pulled off some great saves, while the back line of Aoife C, Mia, Aoife H and Caoimhe held great positional shape and kept Listowel’s chances to the minimum. Our midfield of Lucy, Ella and Sadhbh never stopped running and were a perfect link between defence and attack, while our front players Addisson, Hannah and Edith caused a lot of problems for the Celtic defence. We will now progress to the Quarter Final in 2 weeks time.

Boys U12s: Samphires 2 v 7 Listowel Celtic (Scorers: Flynn Mc Elligott, Conor Walsh)

Ater a good first half which was 2 all, we had a bit of a collapse in the secod half, conceding 2 goals early. The heads dropped and Listowel took full advantage. We finished well but couldn’t force a goal. Chin up lads, see ye at training.
