U14 Boys Shield: LB Rovers 1 v 2 Samphires (Scorers: Conor Finn, Zach Kearney)
A battling performance with some great football played by our lads earned them a great win and advancement to the next round of the shield. We started brightly and played some good football with midfield of Jack Corridon, Conor Nolan, Gary Parker and Zach Kearney getting on top. From a through ball from midfield Conor Finn burst through and slotted home to put us 1-0 up. We were on top and with the wind we put LB under greater pressure with Cody Deady and Conor Finn causing problems up front. From a corner Zach Kearney scored with a glancing header to make it 2-0. We continued to make chances, but the LB Rovers keeper was playing well and made a number of good saves.
2nd half we came under pressure against the wind, but the defence of Fionn O’Connor Jamie Parker, Allan O’Connor, Eoin Reilly and Conor O’Sullivan held firm with Evan Neary and Adam Duffy coming on to help out. LB scored with 10 minutes or so to go as we started to tire but we held out to advance. Great work rate and application from all.
U12 Boys: A winning finish to our league campaign leaves us guaranteed to finish top 3. Top 2 go into a playoff so we have a few weeks to wait to see if we make the playoff or not but irrespective of same the lads have had a great season, showing great development on the pitch and character during games. 1-0 last night was not a true reflection of their play and other than an exciting goal mouth scramble in the first half we never looked like being in any danger. Couldnt be prouder of all 12 lads who played last night.
