Easy For The 17s

Asdee 0 Fenit Samphires 10. An easy win for the U17s last Saturday out in Asdee against a team missing 1 or 2 regulars. We were short a couple ourselves and it was competitive for about 35 minutes but when Thomas Lenihan put us 2 nil up and then we scored again almost immediately, through David Murphy, to make it 3, the game was over as a contest. We were not in complete control for the first half hour of the game and a lot of our passes and shots did not make their intended targets. Eventually David Egan powered a header home from a super Bobby O’Regan corner after 15 to give us a lead. Asdee forced  a series of corners soon after but Eoghan O’Brien in goals was solid under the high ball and accurate and varied with his distribution. At the back we were fairly comfortable throughout with Padraig O’Connor, Paul Nolan, Thomas Dwyer, Frosty Ronan pressing and covering as required. Their quick release of the ball was a tonic for our midfield who made the most of it especially after the initial 30 minutes. Up front we had various combinations of Sean Higgins, David Murphy, Thomas Lenihan and Luke Dalton. They all enjoyed a continuous supply of the ball from Gary Nolan and David Egan throughout and Frosty and Louis Ryle on the wings. The 2nd half was one way traffic even though Asdee to their credit did not give up. We scored our 4th early in the half and like many teams with an unassailable lead  we relaxed and now the ball found the target more often than not. Others to score were Sean Higgins, Paul Nolan and Gary Nolan. Well done to all our players.

Note: We are having our annual Easter raffle soon – all club members to try their best to sell a card of 10 lines.
