U16s Boys
Killarney Celtic 9 v 0 Samphires
We lost heavily away to Killarney Celtic last weekend in the Tucker Kelly U16 Kerry Cup. It was tough for our lads against a quicker and bigger team but we kept at it and couldn’t ask any more of our team. We still have a couple of league games to go so still something to play for. Well done to all who travelled on the day.
U14s Boys
Samphires 2 v 2 Listowel Celtic (Scorer Eddie McCarthy(2))
On Saturday our u14s played the last home game of the league against Listowel. The game started very brightly for us with some fantastic passing and control by every player. The patient build up was a pleasure to watch as every player showed composure and skill on the ball. We eventually got the goal our game play deserved with Eddie McCarthy on target. We continued to dominate the first half and should have opened a bigger lead at the break. To be fair to Listowel they battled well in the second half with their number 10 giving us some difficult times in defence. They equalised early in the second half and scored a second soon after that. At that stage we were unlucky to be behind with the possession we had. In the last 10 minutes of the game our wide play became more prominent with David Dineen and Bobby O’Connor getting great time and space on the left side. Thankfully our pressure paid off and Eddie McCarthy scored his second and the equaliser to finish the game 2-2. With one game remaining in the league we will be hoping to remain unbeaten. Man of the match.  Bobby O’Connor
Girls U14s
Samphires 1 v 2 Killarney Athletic (Scorer Saoirse O’Donavan)
The U14s played their last league game of the season on Friday evening at a sunny Samphires Park against Killarney Athletic. The Fenit girls started very well and created some great chances but were unlucky not to score. Killarney came back into it and scored two goals in quick succession. The teams were very evenly matched but in the 2nd half Fenit dominated and got a goal from Saoirse O’Donavan.  Fenit continued to press for equaliser but some desparate defending kept them from getting what would have been a deserved draw. Grace Stack made some great saves from a couple of Killarney counter attacks.
The progress made by this group of girls this year has been great to see and hopefully they will stick with it and return next season. In what was the first year of the club fielding a girls team they have done themselves, the club and their parents proud. Thanks for all the support during the year.
