Girls U17: Samphires 1 v 1 Dingle (0-1 HT) (Scorer Sophie O’Connor)

The first league game for our U17s was played in tough conditions in Fenit on Saturday. Both teams were well matched and coped as best they could with the high winds. Honours even on the day with some good passing movements from the Fenit girls. Congrats to Sophie O’Connor on her first goal for the club. The goal was set up by Meave Slattery another new member of the team. Well done all.

Boys U13s Premier: Samphires 2 v 1 LB Rovers (Scorer Mikey Corridan, Luke O Carroll)

The U13 premier team took on a strong LB Rovers side in very difficult conditions on Saturday 4th December. It really was a game of two halves due to the strong winds. Our defence of Tiernan O’Keeffe, Alan O’Connor, Diarmuid Murphy, and Austin Donnellan were immense.  LB put our boys under enormous pressure for sustained periods of time during the first half, and eventually scored an opportunistic goal. But our boys battled away and we scored a breakaway goal by Mikey Corridan to level the score at half time. In the second half we got the benefit of the wind, and threatened their goal on numerous occasions and in particular 2 fantastic right leg curving shots by Dara Harty just missing the target. Eventually we got a lucky break and Luke O’Carroll put the ball in the net to make it 2:1 to Fenit. A good performance in cold conditions.

Boys U13s Division 2 North: Samphires 3 v 2 Camp (Scorers Jack Corridan(2), Cillian Foley(pen))

Boys U13s Vs Camp Nov 2021

Our U13 Division 2 North team took the field in Fenit on Sunday 5th December against Camp in absolutely beautiful conditions. These beautiful weather conditions translated directly into the game as both teams played clever, expansive football. Both teams constantly attacked the opposition, as Ralf Rangnick would say, it was heavy metal football. Eventually Jack Corridan took on two Camp defenders, and slammed the ball into the back of the net for 12 metres out, a truly great goal. Soon after Camp scored two, then Cillian Foley converted a penalty to leave the teams two all at half time. More heavy metal football followed in the second half with end to end action, and some real quality attacking movements from both sides, the Wisemen brothers showing their class with multiple overlapping movements. Then with one minute left on the clock Jack Corridan struck again from outside the box with a right leg volley over the keeper for the winning goal. Final score 3-2 to Fenit. Well done to all the lads.

Gaynor Cup: Well done to our Lily Nowak and Grace O’Reilly who represented the club on the Kerry U15 and U13 teams respectively last weekend in the Gaynor Cup.
